Millionday: FIRST LETS TAKE ONE MORE LOOK AT THE IMPORTANCE OF A CREDIT RATING AND ITS USE FOR A COUNTRY --(MUCH DIFFERENT THAN PERSONAL AND BUSINESS)

Millionday: Many countries rely on foreign investors to purchase their debt, and these investors rely heavily on the credit ratings given by the credit rating agencies. 

The benefits for a country of a good credit rating include being able to access funds from outside their country, and the possession of a good rating can attract other forms of investment to a country, such as foreign direct investment.

 For instance, a company looking to open a factory in a particular country may first look at the country's credit rating to assess its stability before deciding to invest.

Most economic theories that attract a large and devoted following are sooner or later victims of their own success. The quantity theory of money is a good example. This theory is the basis for a school of economics known as monetarism, which has had a powerful influence on central banking since the 1970s.

In its simplest form, the quantity theory of money says that money supply times the velocity of money equals nominal GDP. Velocity is just a measure of how quickly each printed dollar turns into a dollar of goods or services.

How China's race to reserve currency status will rock markets

The inclusion of the Chinese renminbi into the basket of IMF's reserve currencies will radically transform global markets and developing countries' central banks policies.

That's according to Ashmore's head of research Jan Dehn, who shared his views during a press roundtable on Tuesday.
