Dear Zap: You do sound a bit drug over the rocks today... I am sorry for my part in that... my daughter, also, disconnected at age 19.  And stayed out of contact deliberately for several years.  It was very, very hard for us (her father and her stepmother).  Someone told me in the middle of it that kids go crazy at age 19.  Ours did.  I know I did.

HMMMM...SOUNDS RIGHT. I AM HOPING.

The introspection in that period taught me that she had some reason to be upset, but no reason to be mean.  We kept sending gifts and cards on birthdays and Christmas.  I would call occasionally, to no response.  We were able to keep up with her through other family and friends and Facebook, of all things.

I AM VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT THE GLOBAL REACTION TO WHAT WE DO. THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVE NOTHING BUT THE BEST INTERESTS OF HUMANITY AT HEART.
