Financial Lessons of America's Founding Fathers

What can the men who adorn our currency teach us about our own finances? Quite a lot, actually, but not because they were all as good with money as they were at creating a nation.

Here are some of the lessons, still applicable today, that can be drawn from these historic financial lives.

Have a Back-up Plan

Alexander Hamilton may have been the greatest financial visionary in American history.

After the Revolutionary War, as Washington's Treasury Secretary, Hamilton steered the fledgling nation out of economic turmoil, ensured the U.S. could pay back its debts, established a national bank, and set the country on a healthy economic path.

But it turned out that he was far better at managing the country's finances than his own.

Forget The Bank: Why Many Americans Are Hiding Cash

Where to stash your cash? Some Americans are sleeping on it-literally.

While banks are still the go-to solution for most consumers, 29 percent say they're keeping at least some savings in cash bills and coins, according to a new survey of 1,820 adults from American Express (AXP).

Of those holding cash savings, 53 percent are hiding it in a secret location. Millennials are even more apt than other generations to go the mattress or freezer route, with 67 percent of those saving cash saying that they hide it outside a bank account.

"We've long asked people about how they've planned to keep their savings, and for the past few years, we've seen an uptick in people saving cash," said Kimberly Litt, public affairs manager at American Express.

C inderella1906  Can Delta or anyone answer this. If as Delta says could add value this month ... With Ramadan commencing on June 17 if it has not happened before then can it happen during Ramadan?

Aggiedad77:  In my opinion......given what Delta is saying.....yes it could happen even after Ramadan starts.....their government does not shut down entirely for Ramadan.....things still run, businesses still open.....PM Abadi and Dr. S will continue to function so yes this could happen either before Ramadan or even after it commences....again IMO.....but the sooner the better again...IMO

If Money Could Talk - By Greg Habstritt

A Powerful Perspective You've Never Heard Before -  "If Money Could Talk"

Most people think they know me.   They don't.

I am not what most people think I am. I am not the paper in your wallet, or the coins that jingle in your purse. I am not quietly sitting in your bank account, hoping to be used one day.

You cannot see me, feel me or touch me. I am an idea. I am energy.

I'm neither good nor evil. I am only what you decide that I am, and I fulfill the role that you create for me.

VIDEO: Your finger is about to replace your bank password

CASHLESS SOCIETY

We already use our fingerprint to unlock our phones, and one day soon your finger could replace your bank password.

Over the past year, U.S. banks have been ramping up efforts to incorporate biometric technology (iris scanners, fingerprint readers and facial recognition) into their systems.

Biometric scanners could let you log in to you bank account on your phone or PC, letting you transfer money or send cash without entering a password. That could potentially be safer than using a password, since your fingerprint is unique to you. Passwords can be easily guessed or hacked.

Though the technology has existed for years, data privacy has been a major curveball for banks' adoption of biometric readers.

sczin11    The Plan Continues... Article:  " The prime minister for economic affairs adviser appearance of Mohammed Saleh, Tuesday, to lend the amount of $ 833 million for the International Fund for Iraq have positive signs and encourage donors and the international community to deal with Iraq."

LAST WEEK WHEN THE RELEASE FROM THE IMF APPEARED TO THE PUBLIC, REGARDING THE $833 MILLION DOLLAR LOAN, THE VAST MAJORITY LOOKED AT IT, AND TOOK A BREATH OF FRESH AIR, IRAQI LIQUIDITY ISSUES ARE TAKEN CARE OF AGAIN, AT LEAST TEMPORARILY....

FOLKS, ASIDE FROM THE CONFLICTING WORDS IN THE RELEASE, THE SEEMINGLY AMBIGUOUS ANSWER TO ALL THE RHETORIC WE HAVE READ, WAS MERE POCKET CHANGE, IN RELATION TO THE NEEDS WE KNOW OF...

BUT YOU SEE, THE PLAN...WELL DESIGNED, METICULOUS, AND COVERING ALL ASPECTS OF BUSINESS, CONTINUES...

IN MEMORY OF SEDNET at OOM&F:

*PLEASE JOIN WITH US AS WE MOURN THE PASSING OF OUR BROTHER SEDNET-WE ARE ALSO CELEBRATING HIS JOURNEY HOME TO BE WITH JESUS*

[soupkid] It is with very heavy hearts that we memorialize SEDNET1. He fought an incredible battle against a formidable foe. SEDNET1 WON!!! He won the final battle and is home with Jesus, the Jesus whom he loved and spoke of often. Finally the corporal pain is over and he is once again with his beloved Kandie .

He touched many lives while among us. Always willing to teach and share... Opening people's minds to potentials they may not have otherwise been exposed to.

We shall miss him but rejoice in his ultimate victory and will see him on the other side.

Note: Dinar Recaps would like to send our condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Sednet at OOM&F....He will be missed by many.

EXTREMLY SAD NEWS - I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT SEDNET - I AM IN DEEP PAIN AND SORROW AS I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT OUR BROTHER WENT HOME TO BE WITH JESUS OVER THE WEEKEND -

From TNT:

Harvey57 :    Sednet was one of Okie's mods

HopeinWyo:   Freedom thanks for letting everyone know about Sednet. Always sad when we lose people who have been on this ride for so long...they didn't make it to the finish line. They took a gigantic leap and crossed WAY over it and don't need this anymore. Still hard from our perspective, but they have their reward now.

Noah:
Good morning TNT family. So sorry for all those that have lost loved ones along this journey, as well as those who have died for this cause. I know they are in a better place and are watching over their loved ones from the other side. God bless to those who have suffered, are suffering, and wishes for peace, acceptance, and joy for their future!

Doby5:   Keeping Sednet's family in prayer...from our TNT family to theirs - God Bless

Changeagent720"   This is happening guys. It's not about us, it's not about Iraq (though they deserve it for their suffering). This is about launching the world forward in a way it has desperately needed for hundreds of years. You have a front row seat. Sit back and relax, continue to learn, but don't doubt: this is REAL.

DELTA » June 8th, 2015, 11:00 pm  URGENT FROM IRAQIA TV:

THE NEW PAPER CURRENCY IS SCHEDULED TO PUT ON THE MARKET NEXT MONTH.

IT WILL REDUCE THE DEMAND FOR THE DOLLAR AND RAISE THE VALUE OF DINAR!!!

Teamlilly:
»  Delta sometimes when they say "next month" it means this month. I there a possibility that they could do it this month? Thank you so much for all you do

DELTA:   YES VALUE WILL COME FIRST AND VERY HIGH POSSIBILITY THIS MONTH, AND THEN GET NEW NOTE NEXT MONTH.
....

I have been asked to post by many for quite a while. I have refrained from doing so because the news has been conflicting. Everything I say in this writing, please take as an opinion piece only.

This is a fluid situation and it can and has changed direction on a dime many times based on what recently happened on the ground. So I advise you to understand that what I believe is going on, may or may not be actually as I see it.

First, I believe the CBI when they state shortly they will introduce the 50 and 100 thousand notes. I think this is a necessary temporary fix to a problem that showed up earlier.

Time is Money:  An Asset Protection Strategy

DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENTS

I've never worn a watch. I flatter myself that's because of a high school Latin teacher/lacrosse coach named Thurber who, when asked why he didn't, responded that "a man who wears a watch worries too much about time."

That quote has always stuck with me. Its philosophical brevity is almost Hellenic.

My real reason for going watch-less is simpler, however. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my keys, wallet, eyeglasses and anything else I need during my daily journey to worry about a watch as well.

In fact, I'm pretty sure the only watch I ever owned was one that had belonged to my grandfather, that my Dad gave me when I was about 5 - what was he thinking? - that I promptly dropped and broke.

My relationship with timepieces, in other words, is  Thurberesque in another way entirely.

But there are people for whom watches are an asset protection strategy ...
