The Line in the Sand: Is Sykes-Picot Coming Undone?  Part 2 of 2

BY MICHAEL WAHID HANNA · JULY 13, 2015

To create a sustainable asymmetric structure will also require the normalization and stabilization of Baghdad-KRG ties, which remain strained despite interim arrangements to halt further deterioration.

As Joost Hiltermann points out, "Baghdad and Erbil are being pushed apart by the way one of the two main Kurdish parties has openly called for Kurdish independence (while the other has not excluded it), by unilateral moves in the disputed territories, and by an ongoing quarrel over oil and money." [xvii]

For Iraq's Kurds, the prospect of independence remains an ultimate goal, and many believed those hopes were buoyed by the territorial gains made in the wake of the collapse of the Iraqi security forces, particularly as much of those gains happened in disputed territories such as the symbolically potent city of Kirkuk.

The Line in the Sand: Is Sykes-Picot Coming Undone?  Part 1 of 2

BY MICHAEL WAHID HANNA · JULY 13, 2015

As civil strife and conflict have curtailed the reach of Baghdad and Damascus, a popular notion has emerged suggesting that the artificial colonial-era boundaries of Iraq and Syria are collapsing.

The popular and mistaken refrain is that the Sykes-Picot Agreement is unravelling. This has engendered a number of misguided suggestions that the borders of the Arab state system are the principal drivers of conflict and now require significant overhaul along sectarian and ethnic lines.

Despite this moment of undeniable fragmentation and violence, however, these predictions of partition are untenable, have limited organic traction, and misunderstand the processes and ramifications of state formation.

Further, and most importantly, they propose unnecessarily radical solutions to the familiar crises of governance that plague the entire Arab world, irrespective of the nature of the states of the region and the process by which their borders were demarcated.

Wealth consultant Cynthia Kostas helps people develop skills to manage life and money when they receive overnight wealth. She has developed seven steps to handling financial windfall after years of working with individuals, families, trusts and foundations.

(1) Realize that you alone are responsible for these funds and your financial wellbeing. Stay involved, read, and learn about financial matters.

(2) Step back take time to emotionally adjust and understand your new situation.

(3) Choose your path. What do you want for your life? Who do you want to be?

(4) Figure out your financial position. How much do you have? What are your current living expenses and what is your income? Is it enough to live on and do what you want to do, as identified in #3?

NOW OUR CHILDREN WILL UNDERSTAND THIS NEW SYSTEM WITH EASE BUT FOR US WE HAVE TO LET GO OF THINGS FAMILIAR AND GROW.

Post From Wealthwatch.world Chat Room 7-23-15 Early Early Morning

chattels: the foregoing is likely a good analysis / extention of my simplistic statement that the world of international banking and commerce must accept / assign / embrace a value to the IQD. that banks will not exchange an increased value to the dinar if they cannot reliably profit from the transaction.

chattels: increasingly I am persuaded that it is essential for Iraq to have a long term hydrocarbon law and be able to abide / perform in accordance with the terms thereof

chattels: such will require consensus and legislative action which continues to be a challenge for the Iraqi Parliament

chattels: who is right and who is wrong in the ongoing analysis of where we are on this journey will be forgotten and insignificant at the end of the day. what we will remember is how we treated one another and made each other feel along the way.

chattels: I encourage you all as I encourage myself and pray for you all as I pray for myself. Fight the good fight, holding on to faith and good conscience. God bless us everyone.

Export Increases and Currency Depreciation

By JC Collins

The future composition and weight of the SDR basket could fluctuate with the exchange rates of the domestic currencies which will use it as an anchor.

To fully understand how the Special Drawing Right could work as an international monetary unit which is used to balance trade between countries, an understanding of the problems with the balance of payments under the USD regime will be required.

My Ladies Private Chatroom: (Repost)

My Ladies     Quote from Article from 2013:  " Two Iraqi parliamentary committees monitoring fiscal policy in Iraq have held two contradictory positions on the Iraqi currency "reset" project, which would delete three zeros from the currency. There has been much debate about the project's feasibility and the date of its implementation."

THE PEOPLE WHO OPPOSED THE RESET IN 2013 ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SAYING NOW IN 2015 THE TIME IS RIGHT .

IT SEEMS MALIKI BACK THEN WAS FOR THE DELETION, AND TAMIMI AGAINST IT, SO NOW ALL THE CONCERNS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AND TAMIMI IS SAYING THE TIME IS NOW.

SALEH WAS CONCERNED BACK THEN TOO AND EVERYONE OBVIOUSLY OUT RULED MALIKI AND NOTHING WAS DONE.  SALEH IS ON THE BALL NOW...
