Trade: Low recording companies during the first half of 2015 because of security and economic crises

The Ministry of Commerce reports that for the first half of 2015 registration of new companies in Iraq was down over the same time period from 2014...this is attributed to issues surrounding security and economic problems that have reared an ugly head within Iraq....

the government meanwhile continues to try and attract businesses to Iraq by waiving fees and customs for a period of five years...with a possible extension of the exemption for 10 years.

chattels: Trial begins for Camp Speicher massacre By Associated Press

chattels: BAGHDAD - The trial of suspected militants accused of killing hundreds of Iraqi soldiers during last year's Islamic State group blitz began on Wednesday in Baghdad. 

The spokesman for Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, Abdul-Sattar Bayrkdar, said that 28 defendants are being tried for their alleged role in the killing of around 1,700 soldiers when ISIS extremists captured Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit in summer 2014. 

Bayrkdar said the defendants acknowledged their participation in the killing of the soldiers who were trying to flee nearby Camp Speicher, an air base on the outskirt of Tikrit. He added that some 604 other militants, believed to have taken part in the killing, were still at large. 

"The trial will be transparent and fair," he said. "The defendants acknowledged their role and we have evidences for their participation."

The drachma was the world's oldest existing currency before it was replaced by the euro on January 1, 2001. And it may be about to make a comeback. This Sunday's referendum is described by European leaders as a vote for or against the euro. If Greece votes "oxi", the country may soon be looking for a new currency.

Haris Theoharis, a politician in the centrist party To Potami, said: "There's already a team within the prime minister's office, with staff from the general accounting office, right now working on the drachma."

Today's news is a continuing saga about the Iraq dinar revaluation. If you have not done so already please read my news letter from 7/1 since this is yet more news on this topic.

I know I must sound like a broken record once again but I can assure you, until there is the needed physical security and political stability in Iraq there will be no currency revaluation.

I am therefore showing you the path to this process. We will know when we get there since the CBI will ultimately tell us once again they are beginning the project to delete the zeros.

But first they must get the security situation under control and pass the needed laws that help in this process and  also for the healing that must take place from Reconciliation reforms (Erbil) something that was part of the Abadi platform for election.
