Ardvard Ratnik:   Possible explanation for the endless delays.
Shamelessly plagiarized from baa-baa black sheep:

8/15/2015

The Paris Conference, held last June, the UN and the USA basically said to Iraq that they need to clean up their court system.

Out pops the resignation of Medhat al-Mahmoud. This judge was bought and paid for by Maliki to decide cases. Some of us watched many of these bad decisions over the years and wondered just what was going on.

Palm-sources and satellite channels in a flash revealed the resignation of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Supreme Federal Court judge in Iraq, "Medhat al-Mahmoud" from office.

Donnie: Massoud Barzani and Kurdish presidential succession Posted on August 14, 2015

Donnie: Since Iraq regained its sovereignty in 2004, it has had four prime ministers : Ayad Allawi, Ibrahim Jaafari, Nouri al-Maliki, and current premier Haider al-Abadi. Over the same period, Iraqi Kurdistan has had one ruler: Massoud Barzani.

In 2005, the Iraqi Kurdish parliament, dominated by Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), agreed that the presidency should be limited to two terms but they skirted the law in 2013 by unilaterally extending Barzani's second term by two years.

That ends on August 19 and, while the KDP remains the largest party in parliament, it lacks an absolute majority. By law, the speaker of parliament, currently from the opposition Gorran Movement, should become acting president. The minority parties, which Barzani could once co-opt, bribe, or coerce into supporting him, are so far refusing to support outright an extra constitutional extension of his term.

Sunday News Summaries and Commentaries

Observations of things that make one go hmmmm....things that change.....the norm that suddenly gives way to something different.....notice anything a "quietness".....and the news that is shared today is sort of off the wall....makes you wonder...what to believe....but don't allow what appears in newsprint to lead you astray.....just because someone felt it was newsworthy doesn't make the story any closer to the truth.

Economist: deletion of zeros from the currency will reduce the dollar traded in the local market

It would appear that we have a case of apples and oranges here....they don't mix too well when put into a case....it was either designed for apples or for oranges, but as a mix, the lid just won't close properly.....

BOBBY: Chattels. ...... your opinion. ..... if Maliki is still there... what has been accomplished?

chattels: '@BOBBY' Is Maliki still where ? VP office or in Iran ?

BOBBY: Chattels..... i would have to say both

chattels: Abadi has the power to remove him with the consent of Parliament under Article 78 of the constitution. That appears to be done. The constitutional question relates to the abollishment of ALL VP positions I think. The constitution requires one according to Visser.

chattels: I suppose that Maliki can refer to himself as a / the VP, but to what good end ?

Thanks My Ladies for letting us share from your private chatroom

MVL:   Crazy question: Martin Armstrong  maintains that pegs don't last forever. A good example is what the Swiss did this past spring. China has let the yuan slide; what's to keep them from de-pegging from the dollar altogether, once they are using CIPS?

MEMPHIS: The actions of China this week are in fact a de-facto breaking of the USD peg.   I believe we are already witnessing it.   The answer to your Q Mike is of course: "nothing".

IMO tho an official break won't happen soon and a way to measure the timeline might be any evidence that they are further lowering their reserves in USD.

As to Armstrong's assertion that all pegs fail?   I doubt many could explain WHY this statement is true and yet the answer is right there in front of us.   It goes back to Adam Smith's invisible hand and a basic tenant that ALWAYS holds true:

The problems with in Iraq seem even more highlighted by the contrast of Iran, financially speaking. Consider that:

Iran comes out and boast it will have an international currency three months after being released from sanctions.

Iran doesn't have the debt problems Iraq has had to face.

Iran has political stability whether we like their idiology or not.

Iran has resources, and has come out with articles about their natural gas, gold, and oil.

Iran has $100 billion heading back into their control.

Iran has contracts being signed.

"if Iran was a company, I would buy it," Donald Trump.
