1bobby: Iraq is Back in Business, According to Wyndham Group
Iraq, August 18, 2016 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is rising again in Iraq, The Wall Street Journal reports. The piece notes General Electric's billion dollar contract in January, which is of course government spending, to highlight how multi-nationals are increasingly confident as the self declared Islamic State begins to collapse.
The piece also notes how FDI is projected at $4 billion for 2016, lower than the $4.8 billion in 2014 when IS captured much of northern Iraq, but encouraging. Much of this FDI is from oil, since BP, Lukoil and a number of other oil majors suggested they would up investment this year, after slashed capex saw production in some southern fields decline.
Loans, from the IMF and the International Finance Corporation, reaching up to $20 billion by the end of the decade, should assuage IOC concerns and keep oil output increasing over the next few years, despite problems with water

Alright guys let's talk about what's going on out there. Boy it was funny because today for 5 or 6 hours this morning since about 9 o'clock this morning there was just very, very little coming through. Intel was almost just dead quiet.
And it took until, I don't know, I'm gonna say 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon to be in to begin to get anything new or meaningful regarding our blessing and where we are. And then things begin to come in a little bit more this evening and we think we are um, we are at a good place. We did get a little bit of Intel.
I've got several things to talk about. First let's just go back for a minute and talk about Iraq. Ah um, you guys remember we talked about the Amnesty Law having been passed and gone through and been put into the Gazette?

However, I am confused about something you said tonight on the cc.
Last week you stated the fiscal year for Iraq is October to September, but tonight you changed that to say Iraq's fiscal year has always been January to December.
So has the time frame now changed from September/October to December, 2016 or even possibly the beginning of 2017, as you stated that is now when (I believe you said) Shabibi wants to lift the 3 zeros (the rv).
IMO, it seems later and later time frames are being mentioned once again. Would you mind clarifying this?

This story blew me away and the first time they have verified banking training of exchange for the dinar
The story goes like this. I had to cash a check at TD Bank. I asked the teller if he could check the dong rate for me. he said are you buying or selling? I said selling if the price is right, I always carry 500k dong just in case I get the opportunity.
While he was checking a young guy one teller over OUT LOUD ASKED IF I HAVE DINAR? My mouth was like WWWWAAAAAAAA! I said yes lots of both why you ask?
He said well you know that WF was training 300 employees getting them ready for the dinar exchange and shortly after their training most of them bought the dinar but had to leave their positions. I said really how LW ago was this?
He said last week! I asked how he knew this info and he said he had friends that were involved in it. So I asked when are they expecting the dinar to go? He said according to his friends very soon and that's why they all purchased dinar and quit.

Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones Mohammed Khudair and accept Wednesday with an official delegation from Iraq, headed by Dr. Yacoub on the head of the Investment Commission of Basra province the current role of the body and the various sectors to attract more investments to the Egyptian market.
The Commission said in a statement Wednesday that the delegation's visit comes within the framework of the World Bank's program for the development of investment and promotion in Basra province.
And it comprises 22 officials from the World Bank and the National Commission of Iraq for Investment and the Investment Authority in Basra.
