Vietnam has enough cash for intervention regardless of any FED move: cbank

With about US$40 billion in foreign exchange reserves, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) will intervene in the forex market to shore up the value of the Vietnamese dong, whether the U.S. Federal Reserve (FED) raises interest rates or not, the central bank said Monday in a press release.
The SBV is willing to sell the foreign currency to strengthen the dong's value when it has to do so in order to deal with any false expectation about the devaluation of the local currency, it said.

tman23 Question is...Why did Iraq Parliment pull from the scheduled vote on the investment law on the eve of the vote back in Nov 2014 at the request of Abadi?
Question is...Why was the vote scheduled once again on May 25th and instead went into a closed meeting for 12 hrs working on nothing but the investment law...and was said that upon Jabouri's return from meeting in Germany, Europe required some additional changes to the investment law.
Question is...The amendments to the law have been completed for quite sometime since May 25th and there is no opposition to it...
Question is why has it not been voted on?
They have not opened the window for loans, foreign contracts etc..etc... BUT they did close out old contracts by paying out 9 billion dollars AND the new contracts are on hold...WHY?
They have announced the offering/sale of international bonds on/after Oct 1st. Why not sell the bonds before Oct 1st?
INVESTMENT LAW IS THE INTERNATIONAL KEY.

Donnie: Saudi Arabia, world's largest oil exporter, has pegged the riyal at 3.75 to the dollar while the United Arab Emirates' dirham is fixed at a rate of 3.6725 since 1997.
Donnie: Fitch rates Saudi Arabia at AA but revised its outlook to negative at the end of August, citing lower oil prices and a spending increase associated with the accession of a new king .
Donnie: The negative outlook signalled a more than 50 per cent chance of a downgrade over the next two years, Gamble added. "(The main reason) would be due to inadequate fiscal policy response that would erode their sovereign buffers."

Isabelle: Parliament meets again on 9/28. I think they may pass a 'boatload" of laws, the RV Tuesday or Wednesday. They seem to do everything at last minute!! Makes sense, in that Oct 1 is the USA new accounting period. I think.

Morning everyone. During this frustrating waiting game, it's important to note how far we have come. Forex used to only poll down into the 1130's this time of day even six weeks ago. Now the 1110 range is common. They used to only poll four or five times in a 24 hour period, now it's more like a dozen and the times vary significantly. So the PTB is monitoring closely, the currency trading elite are looking for clues. With everything else that is happening, take heart.

Vietnam's economy is benefiting from cheap oil as disappearing inflation boosts domestic demand, early indicators of growth this quarter show. The impact of a weakened currency following China's yuan devaluation is less clear.
Economic data this week show how lower energy costs are giving consumers and businesses breathing room:
Inflation dwindled to zero this month for the first-time ever, Nguyen Bich Lam, head of the General Statistics Office, said Thursday.Price gains have averaged less than 1 percent this year, compared with a five-year average of more than 9 percent through 2014.

chattels: Political parties confirm the continuation of dialogue between the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic to find a constitutional way out of the dismissal of the last Congress, in spite of the criticism addressed to the first against the backdrop of the decision taken in isolation.
Parties revealed that some Vice-Presidents of the Republic of appeal against the decision to cancel their positions issued by the Prime Minister in August.
And stresses the need for the parties to the decision letter addressed to the President of the Republic Parliament to scrap the three positions. The House voted unanimously, on 11 August, on the first package of reforms that the government has under which the dismissal of the Vice-President of the Republic from office.
