Iraq declares state of emergency amid ongoing violent protests

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Despite measures by the Iraqi government, including shutting down all social media and internet services, protesters continue to storm streets in several areas of southern Iraq demanding better public services and employment.

On Saturday, protests continued in Najaf, Missan, Babil, Dhi Qar, Karbala, and Najaf for the sixth consecutive day.

There were violent clashes between demonstrators and anti-riot police in front of the residence of the Dhi Qar Governor.
