Tuesday UPDATE for June 12, 2018

Highlights from today's news and rumors.....

PM Abadi is against the governments' re-run of the parliamentary elections claiming that a court order is required. He is quoted as saying, "There is no turning back and the elections have taken place...a new government must be formed" and "It is not the power of the government and Parliament to cancel the election results."

Iraqi TV and newspapers are reporting that Sadr blocks have totaled 222 with the second highest at 106.

Nationalist cleric Sadr and Iranian-backed militia chief Amiri announce a political alliance today forming the largest bloc in parliament. They were first and second place respectively in the May 12 parliamentary election.

Bruce: Welcome Everybody to the Big Call tonight. This is interesting, because normally we sort of start with Iraq and get bored waiting for Iraq to post a rate or put this or that in the Gazette, or put their election results in. I don’t care anymore, because it’s a done deal. It has been done.

If they want to take their time to put out their rate and let it be known internationally so be it. They are done. They have revalued in country. We know the rate. It is no secret to me. We know the rate, we know it’s good, and we know they have already done it. Let’s let Iraq go. Let’s talk about the rest of the stuff that is going on.

Bruce: What was so good and I know a lot of people watched it. I did and I watched it until I couldn’t stay up any longer. That was the meeting that President Trump had with Kim Jong Un in Singapore. It was really important.

FRANK26 UPDATE MONDAY CC, June 11, 2018.

[Delta]: The UN Security Council (UNSC) released all remaining sanctions of the last 16 years. This means the rate can go back to over $3.00.  In 2003 the UN took Iraq’s currency, the dinar, down to 1/10 cent to prevent Sadaam from using funds for terrorism.  The frozen assets the UNSC released of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) were in the mega $$.

This is HUGE!

The right way (and the wrong way) to lend money to family and friends
By J.D. Roth Get Rich Slowly

There are those who believe that money writers lead perfect financial lives. Ha! Would that it were so. When we get together, we often share stories about the dumb things we’ve done. Today, my friends, I want to tell you about an instance in which I failed to follow my own advice, an example of how not to get rich slowly.

For several years now, one of my indulgences has been season tickets to the Portland Timbers, my home-town’s professional soccer team. I’ve been a Timbers fan since I was six years old. I used to listen to their exploits on the radio during the 1970s. I can still sing “Green is the Color” from memory:
