By Kimberly Palmer

Several years ago, New York Times Wealth Matters columnist Paul Sullivan opened up his finances to a group of high-powered, high-net worth investors known as Tiger 21. Members gather regularly to discuss investing strategies and at one meeting, Sullivan asked them to critique his own -- relatively meager by their standards -- financial life.

"Given what I do, I thought [my wife and I] had a handle on it, but what I learned from that meeting is that we hadn't thought enough about the risks in life," Sullivan says. Those risks include declining incomes and the unexpected death or disability of a household wage earner.

As a result of that meeting, Sullivan and his wife took out life and disability insurance policies and sold off a condo in Florida that had been a vacation home for the family.

Time is Money: An Asset Protection Strategy

I’ve never worn a watch. I flatter myself that’s because of a high school Latin teacher/lacrosse coach named Thurber who, when asked why he didn’t, responded that “a man who wears a watch worries too much about time.”

That quote has always stuck with me. Its philosophical brevity is almost Hellenic.

My real reason for going watch-less is simpler, however. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my keys, wallet, eyeglasses and anything else I need during my daily journey to worry about a watch as well.

Samson: International Monetary Fund downgrades Chinese growth outlook

5th June, 2019

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday lowered its forecast for China's 2019 economic growth to 6.2 percent as trade frictions intensified, saying that if the US-China trade war escalates, it will further facilitate monetary policy.

The cut in expectations came just two months after the IMF raised its estimate of China's growth to 6.3 percent from 6.2 percent, highlighting the expected pressure on the world's second-largest economy as a result of the increase in US tariffs on Chinese goods in billions of dollars.

"Growth is expected to fall to 6.2 percent and 6 percent in 2019 and 2020, respectively," IMF Deputy Managing Director David Lipton said in a statement. "The near-term outlook is still very uncertain, given the potential for further escalation of trade tensions," he added.   LINK - https://www.almaalomah .com/2019/06/05/410061/

Samson: Hakim calls for trial of "thieves of law" and start hunting "whales of corruption"

5th June, 2019

The head of the wisdom movement, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, on Wednesday called for the trial of "thieves of the law" and their placement in prisons and start catching whales of corruption, stressing that fighting corruption is a national priority can not be tolerated.

Al-Hakim said during the sermon of the Eid prayer and its follow-up / information, that "the file against corruption is still unclear in its practical outputs at the least, as we hear about the actions and intentions of accountability and disclosure, but unfortunately we have not yet seen a decisive clarity in the fight and punishment."

"Combating corruption is a national priority that can not be tolerated. We can not witness a real development of the country's economy without accounting for the corrupt," he said. "Terrorism and extremism can not be eradicated without accountability of the corrupt, and security, peace and social justice can not be achieved. Without accounting for the corrupt. "

"The formation of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Council is an important step, but it is not enough if it does not lead to real practical steps," he said.   LINK - https://www.almaalomah .com/2019/06/05/410007/
