Consumer confidence in the US rose to the highest level in 18 years during October, with the support strength of the economy and the labor market
US consumer confidence rose to 137.9 points this month, the highest level since September 2000, from 135.3 points in September, according to data released by the Conference Board on Tuesday
Analysts had expected US consumer confidence to rise to 136.3 points
The data showed that consumers were more optimistic with strong job growth, and expected that the US economy will not lose its strength in the near future and will continue to grow next year
The current situation assessment index rose to 172.8 points in October from 169.4 points last month
The outlook index rose to 114.6 points this month, from 112.5 points in September
