China's Yuan Toppled From Two-Year High as Trade Data Surprises

Surge in imports reduced surplus, showing drop in yuan demand
There have been signs officials may act to stymie appreciation

China’s yuan sank the most since the aftermath of its shock 2015 devaluation, after data showed the country’s trade surplus more than halved last month, and investors speculated controls on outward cash flows will be eased.

The yuan weakened as much as 1.2 percent in Shanghai, touching as low as 6.3550 per dollar on Thursday. The slump marks a reversal for the managed currency, which acts as an anchor for the wider Asian region and has been rallying amid the dollar’s retreat.

Yuan Nears Strongest Level Since 2015 Devaluation

China’s yuan advanced toward the strongest level since before its devaluation in 2015, shrugging off central bank signals that appreciation should slow.

The onshore yuan rose 0.4 percent to 6.2550 per dollar as of 1:24 p.m. local time, its third day of gains. The currency is at its strongest since Aug. 11, 2015.

The last 5 days went pretty quick for me(btw-where did January go, where already approaching mid Feb), this time next week we will again wonder where the time went. 24hrs a day, thats all anyone gets last I checked, choose how we spend our time wisely my friends. MountainMole: This has been the longest roller coaster ride ever. We have climbed to the highest heights only to be disappointed again and again. Now we are climbing perhaps the highest of them all. One thing for sure, if this doesn't happen Monday, the 12th, well I'm not getting off the ride. One day it will be the one.

Fullsail: mmole.... one thing for sure, this ride has not been boring. looking forward to the end where the coaster has a long drop right into the pool of cool water splash, and everyone goes Aaaahhhhhhhhh,

Samson:  Deputy reveals Abadi sent a draft "modified budget" to parliament

The deputy of the Union of Forces Raad Dahlaki, on Thursday, the sending of Prime Minister Haider Abadi draft "modified budget" to the House of Representatives, noting that Abadi promised to resolve all the problems between the government and political blocs equally.

"The government sent today an amended draft of the budget law for the year 2017 to the House of Representatives," noting that "the political blocs will evaluate the draft during the coming hours and looked at the most prominent amendments made by the government on the revised draft."

Al-Dahlaki added that "the meeting of the Union of Forces with Prime Minister Haider Abadi was very positive as he promised Abadi to increase the allocations of liberated provinces and work to return the displaced to their areas and resolve all the problems with the political blocs objecting," stressing that "we are waiting for the implementation of those promises to legal legislation."

The head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc MP Arieh Abdullah revealed in a statement to (Information) / on Wednesday, the existence of government pressure to pass the budget in its current form.    LINK
