The front door vs. the back door. As a child, I went in and out of my back door multiple times each day. The back door had no doorbell and was the fastest path to the kitchen so I could grab a drink or a snack. The milkman would deposit his glass bottles, fresh butter, eggs, and cheese in the cold box at the back door. The front door was reserved for those who needed to ring our doorbell, most often people we considered guests. The same theory applies to Sun Valley Quilts. When you come to our front door, we welcome you and ask how we can serve you. Sometimes you want our help looking for a particular item or fabric, but at other times you might want to wander on your own and look for inspiration. When we hear knocking at our back door, it’s a clear signal to let today's “milkman” in. Today our ‘milkmen’ wear different uniforms with logos that say UPS or FedEx. We are as excited to answer the back door as we are to hear the chime at the front door. The front door announces our company has arrived and our back door announces it’s time to open gifts!

This week our back door arrivals included several new and updated patterns from ByAnnie and more ByAnnie hardware! ByAnnie is by far the Sun Valley Quilts fan favorite bag designer and Lynn M is our talented bag instructor. Each month Lynn offers an Intro to Bag Construction class and encourages you to start with one of the ByAnnie patterns that incorporates several techniques you find in all bag patterns, but most often can be finished in a day-long class. Those who want to spend more time on a project or are ready to tackle a bigger bag sign up for her Two Day Camp. Join Lynn on December 18/19^th.

In 2024 we opted in on the new Riley Blake Door Banner program, every month a new kit arrives. The program started with the 2024 Easter kit for April and will end with the 2025 March Shamrock kit. This week we received our allotment of kits for the Sweet Snowman for January and the All My Love for February. We still have a few of the Christmas Eve December kits remaining. Regardless of whether you’re just starting out or near finishing this series, grab your kit before they are gone! Kits are available on our website and in-store – but only while supplies last!
