Houmas House Estate & Gardens
April 2021
In Memory of Sugar Baby
2006 - 2021

My best friend, Sugar Baby, crossed the Rainbow Bridge last month. Sugar was not really a fan of being front and center and always let me be the star of the show. She was just content being my sidekick and my biggest fan. Occasionally, I could convince her to wear a hat and put on a smile for the camera, but not often.

Sugar loved afternoon swims in the ponds, loved chasing the swans and other wildlife on the property and was always up for a golf cart ride on the levee.

People were always greeted with a wagging tail and the occasional pounce because she was just so excited to see you! Her sweet presence is missed greatly.

Much Love,

Princess Maggie

Upcoming Event at Houmas House!
Secrets From the Kitchen at Houmas House
If you've followed us on social media the last year, you've seen our weekly live cooking shows. Each Thursday Chef Jeremy Langlois has shared some of his favorite recipes while sprinkling in a little history. These cooking shows have brought a whole new dimension to our interaction with all of you and to our restaurants. Thank you for watching, commenting and letting us be part of your week. Here are some great recipes for upcoming Easter dinners!
More Than a Ball of Wax
A visit to Houmas House offers more than a guided house tour. Visitors can spend hours in the gardens, gift shop and restaurants.
But did you also know just next door is The Great River Road Museum? Boasting 28,000 square feet, visitors learn the history of life along the Mississippi River, depicted by historical photos, paintings, artifacts and even life-size wax figures. These wonderful characters help to bring the exhibits to life.
The wax figures are from the Musee Conti Wax Museum in New Orleans that closed in 2015. Thankfully, the life size figures were preserved in storage until finding their way to our Museum.

You've asked for this and now it's finally here- our gift shop is available online! Starting with a few of our most popular items, we will continue to add more products throughout the year. This is the perfect way to share your memories of Houmas House with friends and family. Orders are shipped in the US only.
