Diocesan Convention is Saturday
The 184th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis will be held in a hybrid format on Saturday, November 13 at the Embassy Suites in Plainfield from 9 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Central to 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central.

Welcome Letter

Read a welcome letter from convention co-chairs Susan Steigerwald and Jeff Brinkman. It includes important information about the schedule, including the tip to use this address if navigating to the Embassy Suites with GPS: Embassy Suites, 6089 Clark’s Creek Rd., Plainfield, 46168.

In-Person Delegates:

To participate in person, attendees will need to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test taken within the previous 48 hours. All in-person participants will be required to wear masks at all times during convention. A Zoom option is available for those wishing to participate remotely. 

If you are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, including fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath; fatigue; muscle and body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; or nausea or vomiting, please do not attend convention in-person. If you need to switch from in-person to Zoom participation at any point for any reason, please email Erinna Vandever.

Online Delegates:

Each registered delegate who has chosen to participate online has been emailed a Zoom link to join convention. The email came from "The Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis" and the email address [email protected]. The subject line was "Diocese of Indianapolis Convention 2021 Confirmation."

If you are a registered online delegate and have not received this email and have checked your spam folder, please email [email protected]. We will make sure you receive a link. Please do not share your confirmation email and link with anyone else.

A reminder email with your link will be resent to registered online delegates Saturday morning before convention begins.

Alternates and guests can watch a live stream of convention on the diocesan YouTube channel.

Convention Materials:

Convention materials, including a recording of the pre-convention hearing, rules of order, budget, proposed resolutions, nominations, reports, and worship bulletin can be found on the 2021 diocesan convention page.
Bishop Jennifer's Bold Witness Video Diary

Introducing Trinity Service Corps
Applications Open November 15
Trinity, Indianapolis has announced it will launch a new Episcopal Service Corps program, Trinity Service Corps, in August 2022. Episcopal Service Corps (ESC) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church in which young adults ages 21-32, living in locally organized intentional communities, serve others in solidarity, promote justice, deepen their spiritual awareness and discern vocation. Corps members commit to a year of volunteer local service, a household Rule of Life, regular spiritual direction, and discernment.
 
Those interested in serving with ESC for the 2022-2023 Service Year are invited to apply online. Applications open on November 15 for all programs.

Listen to Spade, Spoon, Soul Podcast on Podbean
The fourth episode of Bishop Jennifer's podcast, "Spade, Spoon, Soul," is now available. The podcast focuses on the intersections of food and faith and is co-hosted by Good News Gardens Coordinator Brian Sellers-Petersen and Episcopal Church Staff Officer for Evangelism Jerusalem Greer.

The newest episode features the Rev. Christopher Beasley, rector of St. Peter’s, Lebanon. He shares how an 8-acre parish farm, apiary, and community teaching kitchen has brought abundance and hope to the church and community. 

Children's and Youth Ministry Group to Form
Starting in January, an interdenominational group of children and youth ministry leaders in the Indianapolis area will meet on the last Monday of every month. The group will pray for, collaborate with and support leaders working with children and youth of all ages. Volunteer and paid leaders are welcome.

The first meeting will take place at 11 a.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Central at St. Paul’s, Indianapolis.

Advent in Narnia Retreat: Waiting and Wonder
St. Paul's, Indianapolis
St. Paul's, Indianapolis will hold a morning retreat on Saturday, December 4 from 9 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Central to 12:15 p.m Eastern/11:15 a.m. Central.

Heidi Haverkamp will speak about her book, Advent in Narnia, about C.S. Lewis’s novel The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. There will be time for discussion, personal reflection and samples of Turkish Delight. Beverages and light refreshments will be served.

This event is open to ages 13 and up. The book will be for sale at the retreat for $10.00 (paperback). Masks will be required. Seats are limited. RSVP online.

Ordinations on December 4
Jason Fortner and Jóel Muñoz to be ordained deacons
God willing and the people consenting, Jason Fortner and Jóel Muñoz will be ordained to the transitional diaconate on Saturday, December 4 at 11 a.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Central at Christ Church Cathedral.. Worship will follow cathedral re-gathering protocols. Clergy are invited to vest and process. The festival color is red.

Reminders
COVID-19 Vaccinations in Indiana
The state vaccine system is now available to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments for children ages 5 to 11. Walk-in sites are available for vaccines for children 5-11 years old.

In addition, the CDC now recommends that some groups should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna's COVID-19 Vaccine.

Welcoming Afghanistan Allies
Thousands of Afghans have now arrived at Camp Atterbury, located southeast of Indianapolis. To welcome them, please purchase items from this Amazon wish list and also this list of needed items. Please do not collect used clothing or other used items, which are not accepted for donation. 
CDC Guidelines, Regathering Guidance
The CDC's recommendations now advise fully-vaccinated people to wear masks in public, indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission

Bishop's Office Will Process Online Gifts to Congregations at No Cost
While congregations are not meeting in person due to the coronavirus pandemic, the bishop's office will process online gifts on behalf of congregations, and will absorb all payment processing fees.

Use this link to make contributions or pledge payments to any congregation, and please share this news widely on your congregation's social media channels and during online worship.
