"Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?" (The Baptismal Covenant, BCP page 305)
To seek and serve Christ in all persons requires that I see clearly. It demands that I see in the other more than I see of Christ in myself. It calls me to see difference, to acknowledge diversity, to apprehend that while I belong to Christ, Christ does not belong to me. There is more to Jesus than meets my eye in the mirror each morning.
Difference is important, it is holy. To seek and serve Christ requires that I am not colorblind, for Christ is not monochromatic, His Gospel does not dissolve or deny difference, it reconciles it, binds it together into a community of genuine love—a communion of peace and justice.
The work of justice and peace, therefore, also demands that I see in full color, that I notice who is missing, who is left out, excluded, denied, or suffering. And since my hope and faith is grounded in God’s unearned, unmerited, love for me (I love because He loved me first—1 Jn 4:19), I am free to confess my own complicity in structures of injustice and oppression that colorblindness might otherwise allow me to deny, or worse, to bless.
To see injustice, I must see Christ in full color.
As our nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, I pray that we continue to work at becoming a nation of liberty and justice for all, and a people of brave and clear vision that is willing to seek and serve Christ with humility, with penitence, with sacrifice, and with love.

" Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do
Infinitely more than we can ask or imagine...”
BCP pg102; Ephesians 3:20
Thursday, September 28 - Saturday September 30, 2023
Hosted by: Church of the Holy Trinity, Juneau Alaska
Clergy Conference: Wednesday September 27 – Thursday September 28
Starts at 1:00pm on the 27th ends by 12:30pm on the 28th
Our gratitude to Church of the Holy Trinity, Juneau, AK for hosting the 48th Convention of the Diocese of Alaska. They are busy preparing and finalizing details. We are excited to be meeting in-person again this year and to have the opportunity to share how our churches and communities are being renewed and replanted in the wake of the global pandemic. Together we will ask ourselves: how things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new? Let us dream together with the Holy Spirit of a new and renewed church and a new and renewed ministry. How is God's power working through us to do infinitely more than we could ask or imagine?
A Convention mailing went out this week to all our congregations, including registration forms, draft schedules, positions open for nomination and other information.
Online Registration is open! Deadline is July 30th and registrations will not be accepted after September 15, 2023. Housing can not be guaranteed for any registration received after September 5, 2023, and lodging may become the individual’s responsibility.

Yukon River Breakup & Flooding at Circle
Many of you have heard of the devasting damage in the village of Circle this spring due to ice jams on the Yukon during breakup. Holy Trinity, Circle was knocked off its foundation and floated about 2 building widths on the floodwaters and rested in a ditch. The handicap ramp was pulled off the building. It looks like we will be able get the church back on its foundation after gravel is delivered and a new pad is done. Much of the content is waterlogged, moldy and destroyed. We are still assessing the damage and trying to salvage what we can. Thanks to Mtr Susan and Irene Roberts for making several trips and working hard to see to the repairs. We are asking for donations for the repair and flood recovery of Holy Trinity in Circle. We have set up a dedicated Donate Now button on the diocesan website. I’ve included the link and QR code. Keep the community of Circle in your prayers, many of the residents lost everything.
