Bishop Katharine's Summer Reading Suggestions
Arctic Dreams
Barry Lopez offers a thorough examination of this obscure world-its terrain, its wildlife, its history of Eskimo natives and intrepid explorers who have arrived on their icy shores. But what turns this marvelous work of natural history into a breathtaking study of profound originality is his unique meditation on how the landscape can shape our imagination, desires, and dreams

These memoirs are the story of Bishop Shannon Mallory's travels throughout Africa, the story of dodging circumstances beyond belief: being forced out of Namibia when it was under South African occupation; getting blacklisted and kicked out of South Africa for courting the underdog during the years of apartheid; living in the midst of Idi Amin's bloody regime in Uganda; and experiencing many close brushes with death.
