Virginia priest is three-time 'Jeopardy!' winner, could qualify for Tournament of Champions

All this Virginia priest wants for Christmas is the chance to compete in the "Jeopardy!" Tournament of Champions. The Rev. Kevin Laskowski just might get his wish.

Laskowski, priest-in-charge at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Centreville, competed on the popular TV game show last week, won three times and racked up a prize total of $52,999, possibly enough to qualify him for the show’s annual tournament next year.

“I’ve been thinking about this since I was a kid,” Laskowski said in a Facebook post before his first TV appearance. He later thanked his fans for their support in a comment on a Diocese of Virginia post about the show. “It was an amazing experience, and I’m thrilled to share it.”

Resources & Formation

St. Nicholas Day

St. Nicholas Day, celebrated on December 6, keeps alive the stories of his goodness and generosity. The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara in Asia Minor.

He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.

You can learn more about Nicholas at the St. Nicholas Center website from Virginia Theological Seminary.
