Hello Youth & Formation Community,

I know many of you are preparing for Hurricane Dorian. Please know that all of us at Diocesan House are holding our communities and people in prayer. Should you need access to resources, please check the diocesan Hurricane Hub .

Hurricanes, like many things, are never well timed. To that end, there are still upcoming deadlines for Fall Youth Events which are important to be aware of. I know many will hopefully be meeting with your parish's young people in the next couple of weeks as the program year begins!

The East Carolina Youth Council has been working to put together yOUThREACH, Sr. High Fall Break, and Fall Conference for Middle Schoolers. Happening is coordinated by Cookie Cantwell.

Hopefully this email contains all the information you need to for registration. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need more information. I live in New Bern, so I may not have ready access to email in the next few days depending on the extent of Dorian's impact there.

I, along with the youth leadership of the diocese look forward to seeing many of you and your young people at any or all of our fall youth events!

**Adult Leader Information
Often there are questions about how to count young people and adults from your parish for youth events. Particularly this time of year as new adults step into leadership roles. I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to be in touch with Emily Gowdy Canady should you have any questions!
Participants

A participant at a youth event is someone who is participating in the event. They are NOT serving on team, have not been to the team meeting or preparation.

Participants are Youth or Adults.

When registering young people from your parish for a youth event, you must have at least ONE adult for every ONE to SIX young people. For example, if you have eight young people, you will need two adults.

When registering your group, please make every attempt possible to have both male and female chaperones if you have both male and female participants.
  Team

A team member at a youth event is someone who is serving in a leadership role. They have been to the required team meeting or team prep, which is in addition to the youth event itself.

Team members are Youth or Adults.

When registering a group from your parish you MAY NOT count an adult serving on team as the adult leader from your parish.

When registering a group from your parish you DO NOT count the young people serving on team in the total count of young people you are bringing.
Youth Events in the Diocese of East Carolina are by Parish Registration . We do not accept individual registration forms
EXCEPT for Happening.

Young people and adults who are interested in serving on Team for any youth event apply and send their information in
directly to the Diocesan Office.
