Congregational Leadership Conference March 18
The Diocese will host a Congregational Leadership Conference (formerly known as the "Wardens and Treasurers" conference) at Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green on March 18, 10 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. CT.
This free diocesan event is open to all vestry members (new and experienced), treasurers, stewardship chairs, clergy, audit committee members, and any other congregational leaders interested in this opportunity to share, discover, and learn best practices for the health and growth of our congregations. The conference will include plenary sessions for all congregational leadership in the morning, and four breakout workshop components in the afternoon.

Upon successful completion of all canonical requirements, Harvey Roberts of St. Thomas Church, Louisville, will be ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons on the Feast of St. Matthias, Friday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. ET, at Christ Church Cathedral, Louisville.

Celebration of New Ministry at Christ Church, Bowling Green
The Rev. Steve Pankey will be installed as Rector of Christ Church, Bowling Green, March 7 at 6 p.m. CT. Fr. Pankey was formerly the Associate Rector at St. Paul's in Foley, Alabama. He began his new role at Christ Church on Jan. 8.
All are invited to attend the Celebration.
Clergy are asked to wear white stoles.

Clergy of the diocese will gather at All Saints for the annual Chrism Mass and renewal of vows on April 6.

Prayer in Action Days at the State Capitol

The Kentucky Council of Churches is hosting Prayer in Action Days at the State Capitol each Tuesday during next year's General Assembly to pray for government officials and act on behalf of Kentucky's most vulnerable citizens. Gatherings, listed below, will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Feb. 21 Healthcare/Disabilities

Father Hoeft celebrates first Eucharist in diocese

The Rev. Suzanne M. Warner, groom William Toepfert, bride Polini Hoeft_ and her parents, Mafi Hoeft and the Rev. Fine Hoeft celebrate Father Hoeft's first Eucharist and his daughter Polini's marriage to William Toepfert.
|

At our 2016 convention, Bishop White presented Fr. Fine Hoeft as the newest licensed priest in the diocese. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2013 in the Diocese of Polynesia of the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia. Fr. Hoeft and his family are active members in the international congregation of St. Peter's, Louisville.
He was celebrant at his first Eucharistic service in Kentucky at the wedding of his daughter, Polini, and her now husband, William Toepfert, of Lawrenceburg, on Dec. 1, 2016. The Eucharist was celebrated in Tongan, using the liturgy printed in both Tongan and English.

General Convention team considers Louisville for 2021 site
Leaders of the General Convention Office were in Louisville this week as they consider host sites for the 2021 General Convention.
We were happy to host (pictured L-R) the Rev. Cn. Michael Hunn, Canon to the Presiding Bishop, the Rev. Dr. Cn. Michael Barlowe, Executive Officer of the House of Deputies, the Rev. Gay Jennings, President of the House of Deputies, Kurt Barnes, Treasurer of the General Convention, Lori Ionnitiu, Manager of the General Convention, and Marian Conboy of the General Convention Office.

Presiding Bishop offers prayers for President
"Should we pray for the President?
We can and, indeed, I believe we must pray for all who lead in our civic order, nationally and internationally. I pray for the President in part because Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord. If Jesus is my Lord and the model and guide for my life, his way must be my way, however difficult. And prayer for others is a part of how I follow the way of Jesus.

Join 4-day spiritual discernment retreat at Monteagle, Tenn.
You're invited to a four-day, intensive training retreat in the art of facilitating and mentoring spiritual discernment groups, using the "Listening Hearts" approach, which will help participants learn to engage in discernment in their own lives. "The Art of Teaching Spiritual Discernment: A Listening Hearts Lenten Retreat" will be March 14-18, 2017, at the DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle, Tenn.
Silence, song, imaginative engagement with Scripture, creative meditation activities, and contemplative sharing of reflections will aim to combine drawing all participants into the flow of the Spirit while also teaching skills in group facilitation and guidance.

Diocese of Louisiana hosting prison ministry conference in late March
The Diocese of Louisiana is hosting a prison ministry conference at St. James Episcopal Church, Convention Street at North Fourth Street, in Baton Rouge from
March 27-29, 2017
.
The conference is entitled "Proclaiming Hope in the Age of Mass Incarceration."
Speakers include the Rev. Deacon Charles deGravelles, Professor Jenny McBride, and others on such topics as restorative justice, advocacy, sentencing reform, re-entry initiatives, intervention, and societal disparities.

irector who is ordained and has earned, at minimum, a Master's level Seminary degree from an accredited institution.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate extraordinary communication and organizational skills. He or she should be committed to an ecumenical spirit and possess a background in building ecumenical relationships.
