A glance at the 190th Diocesan Convention

The theme for the 190th Diocesan Convention, Nov. 10-11, was "One in Christ (Romans 12:5)": so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. More than 150 were in attendance to participate in thought-provoking workshops, support exhibitors, and share with each other in fellowship while looking toward the future of the diocese.  

In his Friday evening Convention Eucharist homily, Bishop White said, " Today, and every day, Jesus wishes us to follow him away from the familiar settings that define and restrict our imagination and courage. And he still asks these questions:  Given all that we have been through together up to now, can I build on your faith?  With your life, your money, your time, your commitment, and, yes, with your words, who are you saying that I am?"

Jan. 20, 2018 . Bishop's Ball & Lock-in is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2018. Registration details are pending.

March 2-3, 2018. The next Brennan Lecture Series will be March 2-3, 2018, at St. Matthew's Church, 330 N. Hubbards Lane, Louisville, KY. Entitled "Church Leadership in a New Missionary Age," next year's Brennan Lecture Series will showcase the Rt. Rev. Charles "Andy" Doyle, the ninth and current Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Registration and more details forthcoming. A flyer for the event is available here .

Nov. 9-10, 2018. The 191st Diocesan Convention will be hosted by St. Paul's, 5 S. Green St., Henderson, KY 42420.

Renewal of Ministry celebrates 7th rector of St. Thomas

The bishop celebrated the institution of the Very Rev. Katherine Doyle on Friday, Nov. 17. Katherine is the 7th Rector of  St. Thomas , Louisville. Bishop White shared in the Renewal of Ministry with the new Rector and the congregation.
Celebration of New Ministry for the Rev. Andrew Shirota

The Rev. Andrew Kunihito Shirota's Celebration of New Ministry will be at St. Paul's, Louisville, on the Feast of St. Andrew at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. The Rev. Shirota is the 20th Rector of St. Paul's. The Rev. William Parker will preach. More details are available here.

'What is Justice?' workshop follow-up

The Department of Justice and  Jubilee  wants to maintain and expand its connections to Episcopalians throughout the diocese. We'd like to see the conversation started at the recent convention workshop continue. 2018 ECF Fellowship applications available

The application process for the 2018 Fellowship is currently open, and the application deadline is Friday, March 16, 2018.  Applicants to the Fellowship Partners Program must choose to apply to either the academic or ministry track of the ECF Fellowship Partners Program.  The 2018 Fellows will be announced by May 25, 2018.

Presiding Bishop on Texas Church Shooting

During a visit to the Scottish Episcopal Church in Aberdeen, Scotland, Bishop Curry offered his comments about the Nov. 5 shooting at First Baptist Church, Sutherland Springs, Texas. His full statement with a video is available here.

UTO Coordinator shares Puerto Rico update

Lorraine Candelario, UTO Coordinator for the Diocese of Puerto Rico, shared a statement on Oct. 25 about the status of Puerto Rico following the impact of Hurricane Maria. Her statement is available here .
