Bishop Nick has been in Sudan with the Archbishop of Canterbury at celebrations to inaugurate the 39th province of the Anglican Communion.

Susan Rundle has been appointed as Diocesan Director of Parish Resourcing,
a new role to set up a team to resource parishes in accountancy, stewardship, governance and funding. With a team she
will bring together the existing Finance Services Team and the Stewardship, Funding and Development Teams. More here

Young people from across the diocese are in Ripon this month for a 'life-changing' holiday to remember, joining with hundreds of others from around the country.
Some 240 teenagers and young leaders are taking part in the venture weeks at Ripon Grammar School, led by married clergy couple, Rector of Leeds, Sam Corley, and Curate at St Edmunds Roundhay, Claire Corley. Read more here

Fiona Hill has been appointed as the diocese's first Disability Officer, a two day a week post which will involve visiting churches and helping parishes become more disability friendly.
Part of Fiona's job will be to help churches become more inclusive, something which since the Equalities Act of 2010 has been a legal requirement. More here

A group of young people from the link Diocese of Southwestern Virginia are homeward bound after an action-packed programme of visits across the diocese included a trip on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, visits to some of our most famous beauty spots and worship at a variety of churches. A village church and a cathedral, both in this diocese, are pitted against each other in the Church Times Green Church Awards shortlist announced this week.
Both Bradford Cathedral and St John's, Sharow, near Ripon have been shortlisted in the 'Bio-diversity' category with a prize for the award winner is £1000. More here

'Growing our Church' is a series of events and activities that St Stephen's, East Hardwick, has undertaken - all designed to get them out of the church building and into the community to be with people who might not come to church very often, if at all.

 Recent changes to Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) means that Grants for Places of Worship are no longer available to churches. A workshop on
19 September at York Place, Leeds with the Stewardship, Funding & Development Team will look at HLF Funding and how churches can access this funding.

Bradford Cathedral has received nearly £80,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an exciting project to share restore its peal of WW1 bells and develop exhibitions, booklets and tours.W
ork will start later this month to repair and restore the bells and improve accessibility to the bell tower so that the bells can be heard ringing across the city again. More here

A flood damaged church has re-opened its doors to worshippers, more than 19 months after the Boxing Day floods of 2015.
St Michael's in Mytholmroyd, near Hebden Bridge, held its first service on Sunday after undergoing extensive restoration including new underfloor heating. Read more here.
