Sacred Ground Small Group Registration 2026

Sacred Ground is a film- and readings-based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity.

The 11-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

Sacred Ground is part of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is open to all, and especially designed to help white people talk with other white people. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.

Circles will meet by zoom or in person day and time to be determined by facilitator.

Young Adult Advent Retreat: God's Time

Saturday, December 13, 10AM-3PM

Advent invites us into the spiritual discipline of waiting. But what does it mean to trust in “God’s time?” How do we practice stillness and intentionality in a world that tells us slowing down means being left behind?

Young Adults are invited to come explore these and other questions on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 AM-3 PM at the All Saints Retreat House (9302 Blondo St., Omaha, NE 68134). Lunch included. Register here.

The Forma Annual Conference offers an intentional time of networking, learning, and inspiration for those engaged in formation ministry across the church.

This year’s conference theme is Belonging & Becoming and stems from 2 Corinthians 3:18. We’re diving deep into the questions “Who Do I Belong To?” and “Who Am I Becoming?” During our time together we will explore how we are held, seen, shaped, and sent as beloved children of God and ministers of God’s church. Books for Advent

This year there was an abundance of choices for Advent and Christmas books that I have reviewed.

Tied for my first choice:

I Witness: Living Inside the Stories of Advent & Christmas by Kate Moorehead Carroll, Dean of the St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a daily book that features daily scripture from the Gospels, a short devotion, followed by questions to ponder.

Listening to the Music of the Soul by Guli Francis Dehqani, Bishop of Chelmsford, England. This is a meditation book with 8 chapters plus introduction and epilogue, and its unique feature is that each chapter has a QR code to a music video on YouTube. This book is the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book for 2025.

In addition, two additional books are among my favorites this year.

A Light Upon My Path: Daily Devotions for Advent & Christmas was written by a group of six authors. It follows the format of opening with a scripture from Old or New Testament, a reflection, and a prayer.

Women of the Nativity: An Advent and Christmas journey in nine stories by Paula Gooder illustrated by Ally Barrett. This book includes stories by named women in the Bible, one who is not named, and a few who are fictional. Each tells part of the journey through this part of the church year—Advent, Christmas, Holy Innocents Sunday, Naming and Circumcision of Jesus, Epiphany, and Candlemas.

May you have a blessed Advent and Christmas season.

Give yourself the gift of EfM in 2026, starting in January or in the fall. If you need EfM information, please contact me: Sandra Squires, EfM Coordinator.

Book Club

Join us for this forthcoming book discussion. The Rev. Stephanie Spellers new book, Church Tomorrow? Is based on interviews with people who have left the church and people who have never been churched. The book’s release date is December 2, 2025, and we will meet to discuss it on Wednesday, January 28, at 7 p.m.

Questions about the EfM Book Club? Yes, it open to everyone!

If you are interested in a list of our quarterly reads since January 2020, or have any questions related to EfM, contact Sandra Squires.

UTO Grant Application

Applications open June 1 - January 30, 2026

The focus of the UTO Grant for 2026-2029 triennial is inspired by scripture "But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream," (Amos 5:24). The UTO Board seeks applications that move beyond dialogue across the lines of difference to action undertaken together by those who are different. UTO will fund projects focused on justice and bridging divides.
