Christmas Eve at The Cathedral Church at St. Marks
Relive the festive Christmas Eve Eucharist from the historic Cathedral Church of St. Mark during this Christmas season. The Christmas season lasts until Epiphany on January 6th, even if it has disappeared from our malls and big box stores. Join Bishop Phyllis Spiegel and Cathedral Dean Tyler Doherty as we present excerpts from the glory of Christmas as celebrated in the midnight mass.

In her Christmas message, Bishop Phyllis Spiegel calls upon us to pause amidst our busy lives to reflect deeper on the essence of the Christmas story: the plight of a mother compelled to seek shelter in dire circumstances. In the midst of our own festive celebrations, turn your gaze again to Bethlehem, where today we see an unfortunate scarcity persist. This very city, the birthplace of the Prince of Peace, bears witness to hunger, thirst, war, and again forces children to search for a place to rest their weary heads.
As we embrace the joy of the Christ-child's arrival, let us remember that our faith teaches us that suffering and joy are intricately interwoven. When one among us suffers, the collective soul of humanity bears that burden. Within each of us resides the radiant light of Christ. By the same token, when we experience the light of Christ's love and joy, it is incumbent upon us to share that message from candle-to-candle.

Bishop Spiegel Appeared on Sunday Edition with Boyd Matheson on KSL 5 Last Weekend
Click the image to see Bishop's message, which happens at 14:42, following a segment with the newly appointed Young Women General President the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints | Last week, Bishop Phyllis Spiegel appeared on KSL TV’s esteemed Sunday Edition program, hosted by Boyd Matheson. In her appearance, Bishop Spiegel offered her insights into our transition from Advent to Christmas as Episcopalians. Her insightful talk highlighted the contrasting joy of the festive period with the ongoing strife in the birthplace of Christ. This meaningful segment aired last Sunday and set a thoughtful prelude to the Tabernacle Choir broadcast on Channel Five. We are proud of Bishop Spiegel’s impactful representation of our Diocese and her message of peace and reflection during this significant time of the year.
