Director of East High and Pride of Rochester Marching Bands to Perform in 2022 Rose Parade
(December 21, 2021) Becky Fox, the Director of the East High School Band and the Districtwide Pride of Rochester Marching Band, will join 300 band directors and music teachers from across the country on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Pasadena, California, to march in the Tournament of Roses Rose Parade.

Ms. Fox will accompany band directors from across the United States, Mexico, and Canada in this historic project, called Saluting America’s Band Directors. This is the first opportunity for band directors to participate in an event of this nature in the history of the Rose Parade.

In an effort to show their extraordinary dedication to students, families, and school communities, this distinguished group of educators will have their own custom-designed animated float under the theme, “We teach music. We teach life.”

Ms. Fox has been a music teacher in the Rochester City School District for the past seven years. When she began her tenure in the RCSD, she immediately started working with the Pride of Rochester Marching Band, which is comprised of students in grades 5 – 12. Her students have performed in numerous community parades, District events, and field band shows across upstate New York, and the Pride of Rochester Marching Band won first place at a Music in the Parks competition in Hershey Park, Pennsylvania in 2019.

Ms. Fox hopes to one day have the Pride of Rochester Marching Band participate in the Rose Parade.
