Summer Reading Results

The Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program was a big success across all age groups! Adults submitted 225 book reviews for a chance to win gift cards from generous local businesses. Kids logged over 45,000 days of reading, with 1,245 participants and 5,841 raffle entries—1,500 more than last year! Teen participation rose 166%, with 55 readers joining in fun activities like boss battles and achievement challenges.

Summer Fun at the Fowler Library

The Fowler Library had a busy August, taking advantage of the post-summer reading pause to bring patrons to West Concord. Staff collaborated with neighbors from the Concord Conservatory of Music and the Nature Connection to offer special programming. Local expert Ike Sway led an informative, engaging coffee tasting. The Caterpillar Lab, a New Hampshire non-profit, created a drop-in exhibit, attracting 200 visitors to learn about myriad caterpillar species. Finally, Bluey came to Fowler for a craft-filled, high octane end-of-summer party!

Baby Animal Petting Zoo

More than 240 delighted patrons of all ages enjoyed cuddling and playing with bunnies, puppies, kittens, chickens, and more fuzzy friends from Barn Babies at this month's Baby Animal Petting Zoo!

Read-A-Romance Month

This month, Reference Librarian Kate created a romantic book display to get patrons' hearts beating and celebrate Read-A-Romance Month. She says, "Romance has always been one of the most popular genres. Readers love all the various subgenres as well. Now there are Romance bookstores like Lovestruck books in Cambridge for readers to find everything from Romantasy to Contemporary. I enjoyed picking out a wide selection of Romances from the library's collection."
