Digital Accessibility Compliance Updates

UCSF is committed to ensuring that its services, programs, and activities accessible to people with disabilities enabling full, equal, and independent participation.

Federal laws, including Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, require digital content to be accessible to people with disabilities. Regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Justice establish WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the standard for meeting these requirements for web content and mobile apps.

The Department of Justice has extended the ADA Title II compliance deadline from April 24, 2026 to April 26, 2027 and the Department of Health and Human Services has extended the Section 504 deadline from May 11, 2026 to May 11, 2027.

However, UCSF’s obligation to ensure that people with disabilities can access our digital content remains in effect. Therefore, UCSF will continue to comply with the April 24, 2026 compliance deadline pursuant to the UC Information Technology Accessibility Policy (UC IMT-1300).
