Diocese of Easton is Partnering with

Fox Trucking for Donations

Fox Trucking of Easton, has been known for their generosity in the past providing transportation of needed donations to storm ravaged areas along the East coast. Once again, they have partnered with the Talbot County community to send a truck to the hard-hit areas of Northeast Tennessee and Northwest, North Carolina.

The Diocese of Easton will be collecting items from the list of requested items at Bray House (314 North Street, Easton, MD) Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., until the end of October. Bray House staff will be boxing “like” items and labeling boxes to deliver to Fox Trucking at the end of the month. If you would like to take your donations directly to Fox Trucking, please feel free to do so. Their address is: 29920 Dover Road, Easton. Make sure items are boxed and labeled please.

Reaching Out to Our Episcopal Brothers & Sisters

Bishop San reached out to his colleague bishops whose dioceses are affected by Hurricane Helene offering our support and prayers. Read his full note here. Excerpt: "As we continue to be horrified by the footage and eye witness account of the irreconcilable damage and listened to stories of grief from the people of all the states affected by Hurricane Helene, the Diocese of Easton wishes to convey its solidarity and reassurance of its ongoing presence and assistance in the widespread destruction witnessed in the aftermath of the Hurricane Helene’s rampage. I realized the importance of pastoral leadership and the need to effectively balance pastoral care and meeting the physical day to day needs of your people. This is an enormous responsibility not least of which is trying to answer the perennial questions of, where is God in all this destruction? How could a loving God proclaimed by people of faith permit such horror?..." Continue Reading

Camp Wright is Reaching Out to Lake Logan. Several Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers have been deeply affected by Helene and the aftermath. Yesterday, Julia Connelly & Blair Johnson, from our Camp Wright Staff, headed south to help their colleagues at Lake Logan in Canton, NC... "On Monday, Blair and I will be driving down to deliver a generator, supplies, food for volunteers and the warmest morale boost we can muster. Laura and her team are doing amazing work to support folks in the ravaged mountain communities near Lake Logan and it is our intention to do all we can to support them." Let's hold Julia, Blair, Laura, and this community up in prayer.

Many Hands and Hearts at Work

We are humbled and grateful as we hear the many stories from our parishes... of the individual and corporate responses to Hurricane Helene. Many of our Churches and Communities are responding through additional efforts. Please feel free to share your stories with us.

Prayers for All Those Affected

Lord of all creation,

we know that this world is a place of danger as well as beauty, a place of threat as well as promise.

Defend, we pray, all those who experience or fear the effects of natural disaster such as flooding and hurricane, in this country.

Where damage has been done, help them to rebuild, where hopes have been destroyed, help a new future to come into focus, where injuries of mind or body have been caused, help them to heal, that through trust in your faithfulness and through the gift of mutual encouragement, communities that suffer may find new purpose, energy and direction, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Heavenly Father,

The whole world is yours, and the power of wind, water and flame is as nothing compared to the power of your word.

Be with all those this day who grieve the loss of loved ones and homes, restore the confidence of all who are fearful for their futures and help us all in the work together to rebuild lives and restore hope, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
