PLANNING AHEAD FOR 2025-226

Enrollment for the

2025-26 School Year

Begins THIS

Tuesday

February 25

Patience is a virtue! It's time next week to reenroll your kids for the coming school year. The process is VERY easy this year as your child(ren)'s information is rolled over from the current year. It is important to note any changes in contact information and or emergency contacts.

It is also the time to add a new student (new preschooler, or student not in attendance this year).

Take advantage of the 10-day CURRENT FAMILIES ONLY re-enrollment period February 25-March 6 before we open it up to new families.

NOTE: Those families receiving financial aid were sent an email from our business office (business@ihmparishgr.org) last week. In that email was a Letter of Agreement that needed to be signed and returned in order to receive the award. If you have not yet returned that Letter of Agreement, you have until Monday Feb 24 at noon to do so. After that, your tuition contract(s) will not include financial aid.

The rates for tuition and enrollment fees are listed at the end of the newsletter. Enrollment fees must be paid in order for your child(ren) to be considered enrolled.

All information must be completed and uploaded in order for your child(ren) to be considered enrolled.

Eat Pasta Without Breaking

Your Fasta!

Once again, the Annual St Vincent DePaul Society Pasta Dinner falls within Lent, but NOT on a Friday so...meat sauce for everyone!

Plan on supporting the efforts of this ancient society while enjoying the company of your parish and school family. Begins right after the 5:00pm Mass. $10 per person or $25 for the whole (immediate) family! RSVP after each of the Masses on March 1 and 2 or March 8 and 9th. Pay then or at the door.

SAVE THE DATES AND YOUR STUFF!

April 25 and 26, the IHM Gym gets filled to the brim with treasures, trinkets and more. The Annual IHM Second Best Sale needs your hand-me-downs and stuff you can't take to heaven. Organizers need your time and muscles, unpacking and sorting donations and working the days of the sale. Details regarding the online sign-up forthcoming.

TOB

TIDBIT #5

The first human persons were naked without shame. Shame is a powerful emotion that arises when we feel especially vulnerable and exposed in the presence of another. It is linked with a sense of fear of being used, abused, judged, or rejected by the other. This does not mean that Adam and Eve were lacking reverence for their bodies. On the contrary, they had a fullness of understanding of their dignity and meaning connected with their bodies. There was no need for shame in the beginning. “Nakedness” signifies the original good of the divine vision. They see and know each other with all the peace of the interior gaze. There is total freedom to love.  Due to the absence of original sin and the abundance of grace bestowed upon them, our first parents possessed a fuller capacity to see the world and one another as God intended.  For them, the body perfectly revealed the person. The body matters.

GOOD NEWS AROUND CAMPUS

The upgrade of the DeMazenod Room sound system is almost complete. Thanks again to those who gave generously during the Giving Tuesday campaign.

Our Computer Lab will be dedicated to the soon-to-be-Saint Carlo Acutis. Carlo, a young Catholic teen who changed the world while dying of cancer, used his computer skills to spread the Good News especially news of Eucharistic Miracles across all seven continents. Make it a point to view the Eucharistic Miracle exhibit at Our Lady of Consolation next month.

(see the flyer below!)

God answered our prayers months ago for a new Music Director and a new Art Teacher. Trusting in His faithfulness, we're looking for a holy trifecta. Join us in praying for a new Maintenance person. See the job posing here. Any leads, please share with Mrs. Lake

The Walsh Family is home again! Months of "sleepovers" with Grandma and Grandpa Berkemeier (they were living with them) came to an end last weekend when their renovation was completed. What a gift of time and memories they have given to one another!

IHM Preschool Aide Mrs. Maria Weber became a Grammie for the second time! Born last Sunday in the wee hours of the morning, little Amelia Anne made her debut. Mom Amanda, Dad Vince and big sis Charlotte have all had their hearts stretched with more girl love!

IHM Office Staffer Mrs. Colleen Lowe became a Gimmie for the third time last Thursday with the arrival of a baby girl, Leland Holmes Lowe. Mom Molly, Dad Nate and big sister Layla are over the moon with gratitude for their day-before-Valentines-Day sweet heart.

Asst. Principal Anne Brown got a huge surprise last week. Son Ryan, daughter in law Arielle, and grand baby Meredith bought a house, got a new job and only then shared the news they are moving back to Grand Rapids from DC. Grand baby #2 on the way is also part of the package!

Mrs. Stacie Byers remarked this past Wednesday was one of the best EDGE Nights for our junior high kids. The group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:45. There is always fun, some kind of kid-favorite food and a whole lot of Jesus. Encourage your junior high kid to go if they aren't already!

From the Principal:

Hello IHM Families!

The long anticipated registration process should be ready next week! I just want to thank all those who help to make decisions regarding budgets and tuition and salaries so that we can continue to thrive and focus on our mission at IHM! We start with a draft budget from our accountant and then I work with Fr. Troy, the Finance Council and the School Board to make sure we are considering all the needs of the parish and school. Tuition is one of our main sources of income, and the actual cost to educate each child is much more than what we are charging for tuition, so we are grateful for the support of the Killgoar foundation and the parish so that we can supplement tuition and provide financial assistance for those who need it. We have dedicated teachers and staff for whom we are trying to provide fair wages, as well as significant expenses for running a school and maintaining our buildings and grounds. We also want to make sure we are keeping tuition affordable for families! It's a delicate balance!

We are so blessed to be able to walk alongside all of you to help your children practice and learn about their faith and create and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus! This is what it is all about in the end, and God has blessed IHM with amazing teachers, staff and families who support the mission. I am grateful to be here and to have my family here. I'm excited to look forward to another year full of opportunities!

Have a great weekend!

Blessings,

Holly Lake

Principal
