Disciple Dispatch

February 27, 2026

The Divine Mercy Kids Club is back! For six weeks our amazing volunteers weave together faith and fun during recess for our students in grades 2-8. Our awesome seminarian Mr. Whipple got to join the fun this week! Through prayer, service, and learning about the message of St. Faustina Kowalska, our kids grow in kindness, compassion and trust in Jesus' Divine Mercy.

Open Enrollment Starts Monday!

Come Monday, enrollment is open to all families, so MAKE SURE your student(s) are FULLY enrolled - especially those families needing Disciple Den and Enrichment that has limited spots. Log into FinalSite and check your enrollment checklist and make sure it is at 100%.

Thank you for your patience as we've had to work through a couple kinks in the enrollment process. If you log into your FinalSite account and something doesn't look right, reach out to the school or parish office to make any corrections. Parish support forms for IHM parishioners were already distributed and returned and that discount was applied to those who qualify. If you belong to another parish that supports your child's IHM education, please login to FinalSite and request that support if you haven't done so already.

News From IHM Athletics

Happy February!

Back by popular demand, it's time for IHM's March Madness Fundraiser!! For the first time since 2024, we will be offering 68 chances to win $$$ and to support the Athletic Assoc. Thank you for all your support this school year with our fall and winter fundraisers. We are always looking for great ideas on other ways to raise funds for IHM Athletics so please send them our way or come join us during one of our meetings!

All transactions will be conducted through the IHM Clover site and payouts will be provided from these funds.  These opportunities help fund IHM Athletics to keep our kids playing sports for free and provide the necessary equipment, uniforms, and facility standards that make IHM a great place to compete and grow our community.  Your donation gives you a chance to win while also providing $5,000 to the IHM Athletic Association.

The same rules as prior events apply with the squares being assigned at random as they are purchased. When all the squares are filled, we will blind draw the numbers 0-9 for each side. (Your squares will be sent to you prior to the tournament) Then you just match the last digit of the winning score and the losing score after each game to win.  NO BAD NUMBERS!!! You have 68 chances to win with one purchased square.

Please see details on these two attachments:

No limit on the amount of squares you may purchase!

Thanks to you, these fundraisers help pay the increasing cost for fall/winter/spring sports. We also use our sponsorships, gate, and concessions to cover the rest of the necessary costs to provide your children the best place to play and best experience. We appreciate all your generosity and support for IHM and the Athletic Association. Please consider participating and feel free to share with friends and family!

A generous donation bought the 7th/8th grade girls these beautiful new uniforms!

We are also looking for more volunteers to become part of the long-standing IHM Athletic Association. Reply back for more info. If you would like to be removed from this distribution list, please let me know!

God Bless and Go Vikings!

Annual Pasta Dinner Is Coming Up!

Once again, the Annual St. Vincent DePaul Society Pasta Dinner falls within Lent, but NOT on a Friday so...meat sauce for everyone! Plan on supporting the efforts of this ancient society while enjoying the company of your parish and school family. Dinner begins right after the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, March 14 in the IHM Parish Center (gym). $10 per person or $25 for the whole (immediate) family!

RSVP is required - sign up after each of the Masses on February 21/22, 28 or March 1, 7/8. Or contact Bob D'Orazio (616-243-2499) or Matt Schmieder (616-550-6105). Pay then or at the door!

Coordinator and Volunteers Are Still Needed!

After 8 years, The American Heritage Girls are passing the torch of coordinating the IHM Santa Breakfast. Therefore, we are in need of a new coordinator for the Santa Breakfast this year.

We are so grateful for the many years of dedication of the American Heritage Girls to our parish and school community.

This is a great opportunity for our young families and students to get involved! Coordinators can be a group to designate individuals for help with activities and serving. Interested parties please contact the parish office for additional details. Instructions for organizing the event and lining up volunteers are available. Please contact Janet at secretary@ihmparishgr.org!

From the Assistant Principal's Desk

Hello IHM Families!

I wish you blessings as we say good-bye to February and hello to March. We have just completed the second week of Lent. There are many beautiful Lenten activities happening in the classrooms. Mr. Whipple led the staff in a reflective prayer service with focus on that which leads us to the Triduum, and on Wednesday, Fr. Troy reminded the students about the importance of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Many blessings to all of us preparing our hearts for the passion, death, and resurrection.

A quick update on Mrs. Lake - she continues to be at home with her foot elevated as she heals. I am not sure if a school principal ever gets time off because we often catch her checking and responding to email. We hope to see her next week, but we will see what her doctor says.

March is a sweet spot in the school year. We do not have many disruptions and have lots of time to get things done in the classroom. With that being said, this time of year can be a time when students get a little sloppy with the dress code. As a staff, we will be sending warning slips if a student is not in dress code. They will need to make the changes the next day. Thank you for your help with this! Please keep in mind we have a beautiful uniform closet if you are in need.

Blessings,

Mrs. Anne Brown
