1-in-8 of the region's young people were disconnected from work and school in 2023


Last year, nearly 17,500 youth and young adults in the Kentuckiana region were not enrolled in school and not working. Disconnection from earning and learning opportunities during these pivotal young adult years is costly for young people, taxpayers, and economic growth. September snapshot for the Louisville region

Change since September of last year

The unemployment rate continued to hover above 4% in September. However, there were actually more people working in September than at the same time last year. The size of the labor force continued to rebound, inching above its pre-COVID level. With fewer job postings though, people are not finding work as easily.

Ribbon cut at Goodwill’s Young Adult Opportunity Center, new home of The Spot in downtown Louisville


On Wednesday, October 23, Louisville Mayor Greenberg joined other elected officials and leaders from Goodwill and KentuckianaWorks to officially cut the ribbon at the new Goodwill Young Adult Opportunity Center. The center is located at 216 W. Chestnut Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202.
