September Morning Meeting: Energy Savings, Fall Events & Community Connections

Embrace • Explore • Experience • Enjoy Downtown Oceanside

September’s Morning Meeting brought together community members, business owners, residents and local leaders to hear about energy-saving opportunities, community resources, fall events and what’s happening throughout Oceanside.

We were pleased to welcome Rob Howard, External Affairs Manager with Clean Energy Alliance, who shared information on electricity rates, ways to save, residential and business programs, and resources available to Oceanside customers.

Clean Energy Alliance Shares Ways to Save

Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) is Oceanside’s nonprofit community choice electricity provider. CEA purchases electricity on behalf of customers, while SDG&E continues to deliver the electricity, maintain the grid and issue customer bills.

Rob highlighted several programs and opportunities to help customers better manage electricity costs:

  • Time-of-Use Savings: When you use electricity can make a difference. Shifting electricity use away from the higher-cost 4–9 p.m. period and into lower-cost periods may help reduce costs.
  • Rate Relief Credit: A temporary credit is available through 2026 for Clean Impact customers, providing generation rates at parity with or lower than SDG&E. Customers not already enrolled in Clean Impact can opt down to receive the credit.
  • PeakSmart Savers: Residential customers can receive 30% discounted on-peak and off-peak generation rates in exchange for higher rates during designated PeakSmart Days. CEA may call up to 18 PeakSmart Days per year, and customers who enroll in 2026 receive bill protection.
  • Solar + Battery: CEA offers residential and commercial solar and battery programs, including residential options with no upfront costs or credit check.
  • Energy-Efficiency Programs: Qualifying households and properties may be eligible for energy upgrades, including heating and cooling, water heating, induction cooking and other improvements.
  • Small Business Assistance: The San Diego Regional Energy Network offers no-cost refrigeration equipment for qualifying grocery and corner stores.

CEA also offers Understanding Your Bill webinar recordings in English and Spanish covering how to read your bill, bill assistance options and CEA programs.
