Discover Dementia Care Resources and Events
|
|
In our ongoing commitment to support our community's well-being, we wanted to highlight a range of resources and events at the library and community focused on dementia and dementia care. We have materials for caregivers, family members, or people who are simply interested in learning more.
Resources:
- We have 4 Memory Care Kits available to borrow in our new Library of Things Collection. Each kit includes games, puzzles, tactile and fidget toys, and sensory activities, designed specifically for those experiencing Alzheimer’s, memory loss, and dementia.
- Alzheimer Society of British Columbia
- For more resources, check out our booklists for adults and children below.
Events and Workshops:
- Earlier this week we hosted an engaging author talk with Rosella Leslie. She shared from her latest book Losing Us: A Dementia Caregiver's Journey. We were so grateful for her wisdom and the compassionate space she created for attendees during the event.
- Coming up on Friday, November 3rd we're hosting an introductory workshop with Alzheimer's BC on "What is Dementia?". This would be of interest to those folks with a recent diagnosis or care partner. Topics include: the brain and dementia, practical strategies to live well and how to access resources, so that people impacted by dementia have the confidence to navigate the journey ahead.
