AUGUST 2020
Update on eBooks:

eBooks and audiobooks from RBdigital are moving to the Libby app as part of our OverDrive collection on Tuesday, Aug. 18. You will continue to be able to browse, borrow and enjoy all the same great eBooks and audiobooks you loved in the RBdigital app, now available in Libby. During the transition on Aug. 18, RBdigital eBooks and audiobooks will not be accessible.

If you currently have a book checked out in the RBdigital app, it will be available through the remainder of the lending period, so you can finish your title without disruption. Already enjoying the Libby app? There will be no change, other than having more great titles available for you to borrow.

Be a Chemist!

Children ages 7-12 have a unique opportunity to play the role of chemist and discover the importance of chemistry to fields like medicine, manufacturing, art and environmental conservation. Join Plano Public Library and Sci-Tech Discovery Center for some science fun with the Be a Chemist virtual program. Classes start Saturday, Aug. 29 and Sunday, 30 and continue on Sunday afternoons during September.

Plano Public Library is one of 27 locations across the country to host the program. Sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and offered in partnership with The Franklin Institute and UNC Morehead Planetarium, this one-hour program is hosted on Zoom and includes hands-on experiments using supplies picked up at the library one week before the program. The classes are small to provide an interactive experience, so be sure to register early.

Participants will need a computer or mobile device with internet access, a webcam, a microphone and the Zoom app downloaded in advance. Each session covers the same information, so you may only register your child for one class.

Looking for more take home science and math learning? Browse our catalog for STEAM kits to put on hold for pick-up from your nearest library location! For one-on-one help with a wide range of science and other topics, stop by Tutor.com from 2 to 11 p.m. daily.
