We're going on a Bat Hunt!
October 7-31
Join the businesses of Downtown State College on a Bat Hunt this October! To get started, stop in any of the participating businesses and pick up a Bat Hunt Passport. Find the bat in each participating location, and ask an employee for a sticker. Bring your completed Passport with all 14 stickers to the Downtown Improvement District Office (127 S Fraser St), and you'll be entered to win a $100 Downtown Gift Card!

The fun starts on October 7, and you'll have the rest of the month to finish filling your card. Make sure to bring your completed Passport in to the DID Office before 5pm on October 31!

First Friday
October 7 | 5-8pm
Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during our monthly First Friday events. A casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants. First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, free bites and beverages, live music and entertainment, retail and restaurant specials, and more. And there’s free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages with validations from participating merchants!
Happy Valley Latin Festival
Saturday, October 8 | 11am-5pm | MLK Plaza & Fraser St
Celebrate Hispanic and Latinx Heritage with live music, arts & crafts vendors, food & beverage vendors, and much more at this FREE event!
Downtown Fall Festival
Sat, Oct 15 | 10am-3pm | 200 Block of S Allen St
Bring the whole family to Downtown State College's 21st Annual Fall Festival!

Free pumpkins for the kids at our Martin's Garden Center Pumpkin Patch with a pumpkin decorating activity sponsored by Growing Tree Toys!

Enjoy pony rides, a Fun House, a photo station, food vendors and much more! Fun and games for the whole family! Special appearances by magician Richard Benninghoff, free balloon animals from Nittany Balloons and an activity with local legend Monster D!

Youth Service Bureau, local nonprofits, and family organizations will have lots of kids' activities as well!

Find creative drama, puppets, clowning, dance, and theatre for young audiences as well as tents with activities and crafts in Sidney Friedman Park, organized by Tempest Productions!

Fall Fest will kick off with music and live broadcast provided by Big Froggy 101.1 with a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Carrie Underwood at the BJC in February 2023. Stick around for an eclectic mix of dance worthy deep cuts and choice selections laid down by local all-vinyl DJ, on the ones and twos, with nothing to lose *Elbow Knee Knee* !

Stop by Allen Street between Beaver and College Aves on Monday, October 17th between 1 and 7 pm for an awesome afternoon. This street fair features food, games, live music, performances, and more!
Sunday, October 30 | 6:30pm | Downtown State College
Grab your costume and meet Centre Region Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers in Downtown State College for a long-running, community tradition-the 74th Annual CRPR Halloween Costume Parade! Costume judging, with over 10 different costume categories, takes place at State College High School's Memorial Field with cash prizes and candy treats provided by State College Lions Foundation
Monday,October 31 | The State Theatre
The Centre Film Festival returns from October 31 to November 6! This festival brings a curated selection of films to The State Theatre in Downtown State College and the Rowland Theatre in Phillipsburg. Save the date for the kickoff event at The State Theatre on Halloween!
The Clean Team Corner
The Clean Team is always on the lookout for lost valuables. This past month the Team was able to return a lost phone and wallet to their owner!

So far in September, the Clean Team has cleaned:
  • 1117 Food Spills
  • 430 Glass Spills
  • 58 Vomits
  • 157 Dog Waste
and removed a total of 72 fifty-gallon cans of litter from the downtown!

This month we want to highlight the Merchant Validated Parking program that we run in partnership with the Borough Parking Department. Park in the Beaver, Fraser or Pugh garage and ask for a validation from a participating merchant to park for free!
