Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence, DBAE – a free K- 8th-grade public charter school that gives students a space to discover, understand, and use their voice through arts-integrated academics and the performing arts.

DBAE‘s mission: is four-fold, 1) to empower students to use their creativity,

2) to think outside the box and make the change in the world they want to see,

3) to achieve academic excellence, and 4) to broaden their perspectives through the arts.

At Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence, we believe that parents/guardians are a vital part of our community. That’s why we created DBAE Family Voice—a safe and welcoming space for parents/guardians to share their concerns, thoughts, and suggestions.

What is DBAE Family Voice?

It's important to note that our DBAE Family Voice committee functions similarly to a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Just like PTAs in other schools, our committee serves as the primary platform for parents/guardians to engage with the school community. We share the same duties and responsibilities as traditional parent associations, ensuring that every parent’s voice is heard and valued.

As founding parents/guardians, your insights and ideas are invaluable in shaping the future of our school. Whether you have a concern to address, a suggestion to improve our community, or just want to connect with other parents/guardians, DBAE Family Voice is here to listen and collaborate.

In many schools, parent committees focus on fostering communication between families and school staff, organizing events, and advocating for students' needs. Similarly, our DBAE Family Voice committee aims to strengthen the relationship between parents and the school, creating a vibrant and supportive environment for all.

These funds will go directly to enhancing our classroom experiences, providing professional development for our teachers, purchasing new materials, and supporting extracurricular opportunities that connect students to the arts in meaningful ways.

Why Arts Integration Matters

Studies consistently show that arts education boosts academic performance and helps students develop essential skills for the future. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, students engaged in arts programs are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and 3 times more likely to be elected to class office. Furthermore, arts-integrated learning improves student outcomes in other subjects like math and literacy, with research showing that students exposed to arts education are 72% more likely to improve in overall academic performance.

But the benefits go beyond grades. Arts integration nurtures well-rounded individuals. It helps students become more resilient, empathetic, and collaborative.
