Located in Tempe, Arizona, the ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is home to students pushing the boundaries in design and the arts. Our lighting brings that energy to life—creating a space that feels creative, connected, and completely inspiring.

For this project, Arizona Lighting Sales partnered with BL Lighting and Hawkeye Electric to make the vision real. The challenge? Seamless, continuous lines of light flowing from exterior to interior for a unified, immersive experience. BL Neonview nailed it with its ultra-smooth diffusion and flexible profile—letting light flow beautifully without interruption.

But it’s not just about looks. BL Neonview is built to perform. Its robust environmental protections and long-life construction make it perfect for indoor/outdoor applications, handling harsh climates without fading or degrading. That means lasting beauty, top performance, and support for the project’s sustainability goals.

The ASU Herberger Residential project shows what happens when thoughtful lighting meets smart design. By weaving light into every corner, the space becomes more than just functional—it becomes a living canvas for creativity. At Arizona Lighting Sales, we’re proud to deliver solutions that don’t just light the way—they inspire.

We’re thrilled to officially welcome Ethan Alderfer to the Arizona Lighting Sales family in a full-time role as our Controls Assistant! Ethan has been with us as an intern in the controls department, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow with the team.

A recent Arizona State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Management, Ethan brings both education and hands-on experience to the table. Growing up in a family involved in the lighting controls industry, he’s been inspired from an early age by the impact thoughtful lighting systems can have on a space.

When he’s not diving into the world of controls, you might find Ethan cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams, hitting the golf course, or exploring new travel destinations. We’re lucky to have his curiosity, energy, and passion for lighting as part of our team!

For renovation projects, RoseAnn has a simple—but powerful—tip: talk to the end user and check the existing lighting. Are the current light levels working for them? Using a light meter—or even a light meter app on your phone—can give a quick baseline of footcandle levels.

“This gives the lighting designer or engineer a solid starting point for selecting the right lumen output for new fixtures.”

Once the new lighting is installed, those same measurements can confirm the space is properly lit. For added flexibility, RoseAnn suggests specifying slightly higher lumen output with dimming, so users can adjust lighting to their comfort level.

Tools RoseAnn recommends:

“A few minutes measuring at the start and finish of a project can make a big difference in lighting quality and client satisfaction.”
