P.S. Thank you for those who joined our first Discover Nikkei Meet-up in Seattle on July 5! About 50 people came by and we were very happy to meet you in person! Let us know if you’d be interested in joining us for a meet-up in the future.

P.P.S. We’ve posted 5 Nikkei+ stories so far, with more to be published soon. There’s just 2 more months to submit your Nikkei+ story! Send us your stories about being Hapa/multiracial, of how your family or community mixes Japanese and local traditions, etc.! See below for details.

    Nima of the Month

    JAHSSC (Torrance, California, United States)
JAHSSC has been a Nima since 2005. In addition to periodically sharing their event information, they organized a workshop for us to show other local organizations how to post their own events on Discover Nikkei. We’re also now in the process of sharing some stories from their journal Nanka Nikkei Voices. Later this month, a new story will be shared through DN!

We asked them what they liked about Discover Nikkei and this is what they shared:

    JAHSSC

*Nima -> short for Nikkei Nakama (Japanese word meaning “colleagues,” or “fellows,” or “circle”).
