Enjoy New Albany’s First Friday as businesses across downtown and uptown New Albany celebrate the arts. Galleries and shops spotlight artists and stay open late to connect you with local art. The next First Friday is on Oaks Day May 3.

Head to the Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center for the free opening reception of “Star Wars meets Indiana Jones: The Hero’s Journey of Dr. David West Reynolds,” on May 11. The reception coincides with Floyd County Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff offering crafts and activity booths for all ages, plus a chance to see the new exhibit showcasing models, props, and costumes from the Star Wars universe.

The Clarksville Little Theatre closes out their 2023-24 season with “Urinetown The Musical,” a Tony Award winning show offering laugh-out-loud comedy, beautiful songs and a truly original tale. Catch weekend performances May 10 – 19. Click the button for ticket information.

Head to The Wildflower in New Albany on Saturday, May 11, for Mother’s Day Weekend Flower Bar - a pop-up build-a-bouquet flower bar with local floral artist Ashley of Bleu Flora. Create your own bouquet for mom or another special someone. Pop-up shop will run from 11 a.m. until flowers sell out.

Get ready to be whisked into a whimsical world where love, mischief and magic collide in Shakespeare's timeless comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream.” Presented by Kentucky Shakespeare in the Parks, the performance is 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on May 17 at Big Four Station Park. This event is free to attend.

Enjoy a day of family fun, delectable strawberry-themed treats, craft booths, live music by The Juice Box Heroes, and much more at Borden Community Park’s annual Star Valley Strawberry Festival from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.

Grab your tickets to Derby Dinner Playhouse’s upcoming performances! Shows include The Sweet Delilah Swim Club (May 22 - June 30) and Fancy Nancy: The Musical (May 25 - June 29). Show times and ticket prices vary. All performances include breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Visit the Howard Steamboat Museum for one of their upcoming events! On May 11, explore the mansion’s architecture during, “A River Palace on Dry Land” led by Christina Pfau. Enjoy Richard Blanton's "Steamboat Swing" concert on May 16, featuring Broadway classics and timeless songs from the Great American Songbook. Admission varies for each program.

Attend a MESA dinner this May! MESA, A Live Dining Show, offers state-of-the-art collaborative dining experiences featuring chefs from southern Indiana and Louisville. Enjoy a front-row seat as chefs prepare and explain 3-5 courses, answering questions and engaging with you and your crew! Let the chefs do the work or participate in a hands-on class. Prices vary.
