Greetings Neighbors!

We’re excited to share that Center 55+ is officially open and running smoothly! It's been wonderful welcoming community members back into the space! Thanks to everyone who helped bring this vision to life and to those who’ve already joined us in person.


This month, we’re moving into Phase 2 of classes, with even more programs and opportunities to connect, learn, and stay active. We’re thrilled to continue expanding our offerings and can’t wait for you to join us.

Phase 2 Is Launching This Month

Our new permanent home reflects the needs, interests, and spirit of the Center 55+ community.

Phase 2 of our reopening begins this month, and we’re excited to continue building momentum at Center 55+. This next phase brings new and expanded classes, including favorites like Meditation, Qi Gong, and Zen Yoga. There will be one more phase to follow as we continue getting fully up and running, with even more opportunities and programs ahead.

Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) will be held once a month on the fourth Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, by appointment only. Assistance at The Center 55+ starts June 27th.


To make an appointment please call the ADRC at (503) 988-3646, select option 3, to leave a voice message. A scheduler will return the call within 2 business days. It's best to let them know in the voice message your preferred time for a call back.

We're starting a bridge club at The Center 55+, and we're looking for players and a passionate leader or co-leaders to help bring the club to life. 

 Love the game? Always wanted to learn? This is your moment, now is the time! Pull up a chair and be a part of a new welcoming group. Come play, connect, help others learn and make new friends. No pressure- just good fun, company and laughter.

May 7th Thursday 10:00-2:30pm

Bamboo Garden Nursery - free! 

A 20 Acre nursery which specializes in everything bamboo! They have supplied bamboo for many large commercial landscaping projects including Tacoma Zoo, Portland Classical Chinese Garden, Portland Japanese Garden, and Oregon Zoo but also help individuals figure out their bamboo needs. Lunch afterwards at “Happy Bamboo.” Please wear sensible walking shoes. 


May 11th Monday 9:30-3:00pm

Silver Falls - $10 fee per person to offset gas prices 

Scrap is a retail store which sells donated craft, office, art & other supplies for creative reuse. Participants will get a tour of the facility and then we will create a curated craft using materials from the store! Lunch afterwards in the Pearl.


May 14th Thursday 10:00-2:30pm 

Schreiner's Gardens Bloom Even - $6 if bought in advance, $8 at gate

Back by popular demand, in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley, Schreiner’s Gardens cultivates over 150 acres of top-quality, beautiful iris. The Bloom festival will have flowers in-field as well as cut flower displays and a gift shop. Food trucks on site for lunch or bring your own!

Woodburn Outlet Mall

Check out the summer offerings at our biannual trip to the malls and TJ Maxx. Lunch on site. 


May 21st Thursday 10:00-3pm 

Rainbow Trout Farm - depends how lucky you are! 

Enjoy fishing in various ponds – stocked with fish grouped by size. They provide the poles and tackle, and you only pay for what you catch (based on size) Plus, they are happy to clean your catch for you – at no additional charge!

McMinnville Farmer’s Market - free! 

People really enjoyed this last year, so we’re headed back. More than 60 local vendors bring fresh seasonal produce, farm-raised meats, fresh blooms & handmade products to market. Grab lunch to go and stock your kitchen with fresh local foods.


June 1st Monday 10:00-3:00pm 

Oregon Zoo - FREE!

This year we have arranged donated tickets for the zoo! Check on the progress of Tula-Tu the baby elephant and wander around the different habitats. Buy lunch at the zoo or bring your own. Because these tickets are valuable commodities regular attendees will be given priority. If you’d like to bring a guest, please contact me directly. 


June 4th Thursday 

City of White Salmon 9:30-3:30pm

Located across the bridge from Hood River, we will explore this quaint Washington town after enjoying the views at Cape Horn lookout on the drive in. Lunch in town or bring your own.


June 8th Monday 10:30-2:30pm

Peninsula Park Rose Garden - free!

We will spend the morning at Peninsula Park, Portland’s oldest Rose Garden, hopefully catching peak bloom. Bring a blanket & book and find a secluded spot to enjoy the scenery and scents. We will also visit Portland’s Wishing Tree and then grab lunch in the Mississippi district.


June 11th Thursday 9:00-4:30pm

Cape Meares Lighthouse & Oceanside Beach - $10 fee for gas

One of my favorite beaches. We will first stop at the Lighthouse for photos and a quick stroll then settle at the small town of Oceanside. This is not a tourist area so there are only a couple of restaurant options but there’s a lovely beach and a tunnel to a “Hidden” Beach. 


June 15th Monday 9:30-3:00pm

The Steiner Log Church (Tentative) - $8 seniors

Built in 1937 this log church has recently opened after 46 years of restoration! Tours are usually offered on weekends only but I’m trying to contact the owner to get us in during the week. If that doesn’t work out we will substitute the Timberline Lodge instead. I will keep Ride Connection updated if that change is made.


June 18th Thursday 11:45am-3:00pm

Hollywood Theater: The Princess Bride - free!

Organized by the Community for Positive Aging. Today’s movie is the classic 1987 fantasy-comedy The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner. As always admission and popcorn is on the house!


June 22th Monday 3:00-6:00pm

Albina Music Trust & Clyde’s Prime Rib Steakhouse

The Albina Music Trust documents, restores, and shares the music, stories, and creative legacy of generations of Black musicians who shaped Portland and its sound. I will be driving us along the route of the AMT’s “Soul Walk” after which we will go to Clyde’s - a classic Portland steakhouse where we will enjoy their happy hour selection of appetizers. While at Clyde’s we can view the “Wall to Wall Soul” exhibit, curated by the Albina Music Trust.


June 25th Thursday 9:30-3:30pm

The Neon Sign Museum - $8 senior admission

The National Neon Sign Museum is located in the heart of The Dalles downtown historic district. The museum captures the history, craftsmanship, and culture that shaped America, as seen through the lens of the signage and advertising industry.


June 29th Monday 10:00-3:00pm

The Oregon Gardens - $12 senior admission

A 130-acre botanical garden, featuring more than 20 specialty gardens showcasing the diverse botanical beauty that can be found in the Willamette Valley and throughout the PNW. There are specialty demonstration gardens for everyone, including the Sensory Garden, Rose Garden, Children’s Garden and Medicinal Garden. Lunch in Silverton.


July 2nd Thursday 10:00-2:30pm

Dodge Park - free

Last year was a great success so we’re going to make this an annual tradition. Join us again for a picnic/potluck lunch at this wonderful park located at the confluence of the Sandy and Bull Run rivers. There are picnic tables and grassy areas as well as a beach with swimming access. Feel free to bring chairs for the beach. Please pack your own lunch and if you want to bring something to share we will provide paper plates and utensils.

Center, please arrive 10min early 

● Some trips involve a lunch stop, but others do not, please read the 

description to be sure (and bring snacks regardless!)
