Calling All Veterans—We Need Your Help!
Veteran's Day Recognition Program, Wed., Nov. 13, 8:50 AM
Are you a military veteran? Do you know a veteran who lives in the area who should be recognized for his or her service?

We cordially invite veterans who are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church and any veterans related to our students or parishioners (grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, or siblings) to participate in our Veteran’s Day Recognition Program on Wed., Nov. 13 at 8:50 AM.

Many veterans of past conflicts are passing away, and with them goes much wisdom from which our students can gain. To help our students understand the covenant our service members from all military branches enter when taking their oath of office, we are introducing a Living History component to the program this year.

We want to pair each veteran with an eighth grade student who will conduct a short interview over the next two weeks and then introduce their new veteran friend at the program. We desire contact information on any eligible veteran (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine, Navy, or any of the Reserve or National Guard components for any of these branches) willing to make this event a very memorable occasion for all who attend.

Please contact Sharon Dalpini at 630 879 7163, extension 16, or as soon as possible, but no later than 9 AM on Thu., Oct. 31, with your name, contact number, and/or email address so our students can meet you via an interview and tell a bit about your story of serving our country.

Thanks in advance for helping us give our Veterans the rightful recognition they deserve and our students an education about the service, sacrifice, and commitment others have made and continue to make for them to live and learn in our blessed country.

High School Info Night, Mon., Oct. 28, 6:30-8 PM
On Mon., Oct. 28, from 6:30-8 PM, Immanuel Lutheran School in Batavia is sponsoring a High School Info Night for middle school students and their parents. This event is designed to help families in the Fox Valley and surrounding communities learn more about their options when it comes time for high school.

Much like a college fair, area high schools will share information, provide literature, and answer questions for interested students—all in one place. It is ideal for families currently enrolled in private and public middle schools, and is open to all. From admissions to financial assistance to the school culture, representatives will be on-hand to provide guidance so students can prepare for and thrive in high school.

Representatives from six local private high schools are confirmed: Aurora Central Catholic High School, Aurora Christian High School, Marmion Academy, Rosary High School, St. Francis High School, and Wheaton Academy. Representatives from Batavia High School, Geneva High School, and West Aurora High School are unable to attend, but parents of current students at these schools will be available at Info Night to help walk families through the process of getting connected with those schools.

For those looking for entrance essay writing tips, there be a display focused on crafting attention-getting essays and other ways to get noticed by the preferred high school.
Introducing students to the high school representatives who may play an important role in admissions can help them differentiate themselves and make genuine connections.

Families should enter Immanuel through Door 3 on the north side of the building. Immanuel Lutheran Church and School is located at 950 Hart Rd., Batavia, one block south of the intersection of Hart Rd. and Pine St. on Batavia’s southeast side.
