C.R. & FRED PATTERSON: 2020/2021 INDUCTEES
Charles Richard (C.R.) Patterson was an American entrepreneur who started the C.R. Patterson & Sons carriage company in 1893 in Greenfield, Ohio. Patterson & Sons grew to be the first and only black-owned and operated automobile company on the continent. Frederick took over C.R. Patterson & Sons in 1910 after the passing of his father and brought the company’s first automobile to market in 1915.

THE HALL AT HOME: ONLINE ARCHIVES
We recently discovered two glass plate negatives in our collection featuring 1997 AHF Inductees Walter, Windsor, and Rollin White. The brothers developed White Steamer cars and trucks that were known for their quality and performance in the early 1900s.

We're working to digitally archive our collections to honor and celebrate yesterday’s innovators and inspire and engage future pioneers. Visit our social media channels this month to learn how you can help.

STAFF PICK: SMARTER EVERY DAY
The YouTube channel, Smarter Every Day, explores the world using science. In a recent video, show host Destin explained carburetors and how they work. He even took viewers on a tour of the Holley carburetor factory. Holley was founded by AHF Inductees George Holley and Earl Holley. Check out the video, then subscribe to Smarter Every Day to learn something new and exciting.

AT THE HALL: ENTHUSIAST EVENTS
On Sept. 18, our Giugiaro: Designer of the Century event focused on the vehicle designs of 2002 AHF Inductee Giorgetto Giugiaro. Owners of Giugiaro-designed cars displayed their vehicles in front of the Hall. Attendees enjoyed additional display cars inside the Hall along with a lecture with Italian design experts.

During Beyond Internal Combustion on Oct. 7, attendees experienced the changing culture of the automobile in the electric age.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
On July 22, the Automotive Hall of Fame was excited to host our 2020/2021 Induction and Awards Ceremony. Induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame is considered the highest honor in the industry and our annual Induction and Awards Ceremony is the industry's must-attend event.

We postponed our 2020 event due to COVID-19, so we were even more excited to gather together this year at The ICON building on the Detroit Riverfront. We honored seven new inductees, plus several additional awardees. We were pleased to host a successful and most importantly, safe, event this year and we're already planning for 2022. In the next several months, we'll be ready to announce the date of next year's event. In the meantime, we welcome your submissions for future honorees. Just visit our website and complete the form to share your submission.
