100 Acts of Kindness Challenge

On November 13, 2019, in honor of World Kindness Day, Holladay Properties' Portage and LaGrange offices began a 100 Acts of Kindness Challenge. A board with 100 Acts of Kindness was posted in the Portage office and associates were encouraged to complete multiple items, as many times as they could.

When an Act of Kindness was completed, a shiny star sticker was added in the box of the corresponding act. The group set a goal to complete all 100 Acts and have the board covered in stars by December 20, 2019, and we are happy to announce that they succeeded!

Most acts were completed on an individual basis, but some were coordinated as a group. Jessica Vargas, Project Architect, and Michelle Mosier, Office Manager, (Portage, IN) took the lead on coordinating the completion of soldier care packages, sending Christmas Cards to a children's hospital, and participating in an Angel Tree program.

In November, Holladay associates participated in "Operation Gratitude," through Meridian Title. Items from a wish list were purchased, donated, and dropped off to a local Meridian Title office. The goal of the program was to deliver 75,000 holiday care packages to soldiers overseas.

At a team meeting in December, associates filled out Christmas cards for the Cards for Hospitalized Kids program. Cards for Hospitalized Kids is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy, and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.

Also in December, the team adopted an Angel Tree child through Housing Opportunities , a community-sustained nonprofit that resolves and prevents homelessness for adults, children, and seniors in Porter and LaPorte counties. The group pulled together and gave generously, collecting nearly $400 to provide a great Christmas for a 12-year-old boy in the community. Donations were used to purchase gifts including a fishing pole and gear, a scooter and helmet, hats and gloves, a warm blanket, and gift cards.

In the final week of the challenge, the group pulled together to complete the last 15 Acts of Kindness. The final Acts included sending dessert to another table, leaving a nice note on someone's car, making cards for a nursing home, and buying school supplies for a teacher or classroom. The final act, donating blankets to a homeless shelter, was completed the night before the December 20 deadline. Way to go, team!
