Dear Readers,
High Point is famously known as the Home Furnishings Capital of the WorldTM, yet many area residents, people passionate about home, design and furniture, have never visited a showroom. Cool Yule is the invitation! Sixteen select and eclectic High Point Furniture showrooms are set to open for a three-day Cool Yule event December 9th-11th. All are invited to browse and shop as this event is meant to be a shop-local holiday celebration of design, including home accents, fine art, sculpture, textiles, one-of-a-kind vintage finds, candles and even local art and artisan pop-ups! And bring a toy as HPxD is partnering with the local U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program to collect and distribute toys to children in need. Showrooms are accepting new, unwrapped toys through December 11th. Hope to see you at this wonderful event!
Sincerely,
Furniture Girl, Inside the Furniture World

Homes should celebrate our uniqueness and personality, and furniture choices are an important part of that. With shortages popping up in supply chains and the important increase of focus on the environment, the celebration of one-of-a-kind finds will be an increasingly important trend in the new year. Not only are vintage finds a greener choice for design with upcycling, they are also laden with unique details that are expensive to re-create.

After a year (and more) of living and working at home, we're more inclined to want a peaceful environment, which usually lends itself to natural tones. While neutral and natural colors will never go out of style, you can expect to see even more of these shades in the new year. Whether it's in the furniture itself or decorative elements, you will see nature inspired colors and textures such as blues, greens, rich/deep reds and grounded earth tones, as well as organic shapes.

Single use spaces seem to be a thing of the past and in light of architectural strides and design, expect interior design trends in 2022 to feature nifty ideas on multifunctional rooms as well as multifunctional furniture. A dining table or kitchen island can double as a desk, or that office desk in the home office/home gym, might also serve as a very cool workout bench.
Maybe it's a reaction to a year and a half spent getting cozy at home, or a product of increased attention to detail, but velvets, Sherpa and boucles are the "it" fabrics for 2022. Cozy fabrics not only feel amazing, but look chic and luxurious too. Rounded furniture is another heirloom form from the modern era making a comeback, however this time around the curve extends beyond the sumptuous kidney sofas to include anything from soft-edge table to reimagined contemporary chairs.

Multi-functional living spaces with access to daylight and views will remain key in 2022. With the extended amount of time we are spending at home, large windows and high ceilings are critical as they enhance views to the outside and provide abundant daylight which are both effective stress relievers that will never go out of style!
Demand for outdoor spaces has increased from 61 percent to 70 percent compared to last year. Go the extra mile with your nature-inspired looks and bring authentic greenery into your home. This includes iron doors with large pane glass for front and back entryways.

A look that never goes out of style, the demand for a realistic replication of natural marble is increasing as top designers continue to wrap huge kitchen islands and splash backs in beautifully veined marble slabs. You'll also find that vintage marble is having somewhat of a resurgence, while popular Danish designers are injecting more marble into their new collections. Elegant and timeless, marble exudes luxury and good taste, which is why it is a great option to use in bathrooms, kitchens and other areas of the home where design longevity is required.

The home is the new "ground zero" for healthy living and home designers and builders are offering many new products. There are several innovative, healthy home products that will be hot in 2022.One of these reduces the number of pathogens that can be spread in the home from tile. The PROTECT® ceramic tile products with Microban® block the metabolism of the bacteria. Another example comes from builder Landsea. The company will feature a “whole home” air purifier that enables air quality and respiratory health.
