Cornwall Public Library Newsletter - February 2023
From the Director's Desk...
I wanted to see what the holidays are in February. I found out that there is at least one for each day, sometimes more.

February is Black History month but it also has Chinese New Year, National Freedom Day, National Get Up Day, World Interfaith Harmony Week, National Hedgehog Day, Candlemas Day, Ground Hog Day, National Signing Day, National Tater Tot Day, National Women Physician's Day, National Carrot Cake Day, Feed the Birds Day, National Golden Retriever Day, Rosa Parks Day, Give Kids A Smile Day, International Day of Human Fraternity, National Wear Red Day, Thank Your Mailman Day, World Cancer Day, World Nutella Day, National Send a Card to a Friend Day, National Safer Internet Day, National Kite Flying Day, National Boy Scout Day, Thomas Edison's Birthday, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, National Inventor's Day, Lincoln's Birthday, World Radio Day, Arizona Statehood Day, Valentine's Day, and International Book Giving Day. And that only takes us to February 14th! Halfway through the month, and more holidays than one can know what to do with! The list also didn't include two of my would-be favorites to celebrate, Sticky Bun Day and Banana Bread Day (I've got good Gluten Free recipes for both!).

Are you looking for something to do, other than looking up all the holidays in a month? Come in to see which program suits you or look them up on our website. We've got Take your Child to the Library Day, Dog Tales, Family Story Times, Midday Matinee, book discussion groups for all ages, Movie Monday (an evening movie option at CPL), a lecture called "The Harlem Renaissance," a Saturday story time, and Blind Date with a Book.

Or just come in to check out your next read. My last one was The War Librarian by Addison Armstrong. Set in 1918, a timid young woman works in the Dead Letter Office when a letter from someone in her past crosses her desk. What she does next sets off a chain of events that changes her life and influences the life of a future young woman.
Happy February!

Attention OverDrive Users!
The bad news: The OverDrive app will be officially discontinued on April 30, 2023. The good news: you can still access our huge electronic collection simply by switching over to the Libby app. The time is now!!

Switching is easy. Get the free Libby app on your mobile device from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Log in with your library card number and PIN and you're all set. If you have any questions about switching over or using the Libby app, please contact us or stop by the Reference Desk during your next library visit. We would be happy to assist you!
