As members, friends, and supporters, you probably know Point Reyes better than anyone! Everyone who loves this park finds their own ways of connecting and refreshing their spirits here at the Seashore, but each love story begins with a spark. How did you first get to know this deeply special place?

For many people, taking a field class is their first introduction to Point Reyes. PRNSA offers a variety of classes through the Field Institute, our member events often feature a learning component, and NPS hosts ranger-led programs. Classes offer experiences to meet every interest—whether you’re digging deeper into a love of mushrooms or exploring a new birding hobby—and help you experience Point Reyes in completely new ways.

We’re thinking about the future of park programs, and we want to hear from you. What’s your favorite way to learn in the park? What kind of classes should be offered in Point Reyes? Whether or not you’ve ever taken a field class, we would love to hear your thoughts through a short online survey. Your feedback will help us offer exciting and accessible classes that help more people build their own relationships with the Seashore.

Thursday Weeders at Abbotts Lagoon

May 15 & 29, 10am-2pm

Join PRNSA and park staff every other Thursday from 10am-2pm at Abbotts Lagoon to help restore critical coastal dune habitat.

Tomales Point Cape Ivy Removal

Sat., May 17, 11am-2pm

Join park staff and volunteers in removing invasive plant species at Tomales Point to restore our shoreline habitats. Meet at the trailhead.

Join park staff and volunteers in removing invasive plant species at North Beach to restore our shoreline habitats. Meet by the visitor parking lot.

Return of the Coho!

Smolt trapping is underway on Olema and Redwood Creeks, and the Point Reyes fish crew is starting to see an uptick in downstream movement of coho smolts. Numbers should continue to increase over the next few weeks.

This comes on the heels of an extremely busy spawner season for the San Francisco Bay Area Network coho and steelhead monitoring crew. The team observed increased spawning in all three creeks monitored—Olema, Pine Gulch, and Redwood—and the season was unusually long, with new coho redds (salmon nests) still being found through mid-February!
