2020 is here and it's your time to shine! Teachers, show off your best teaching practice or strategy this July in Corpus Christi. The eighteenth biennial Texas Statewide Conference on Education of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing invites proposals for presentations that address issues in the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Proposals are also being accepted for the third Biennial Best Practice in Mainstream Education of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students Conference held July 31st.
TSD graduate Cruz Lane signs part of the introduction to our Black History Month lesson plan. Cruz also signed videos for our Martin Luther King, Jr. lesson plan.
Shine in the classroom with two new lesson plans complete with ASL introductions, objectives, TEKS, and much more. Our goal is to support teachers throughout the state of Texas, and your input is important to us. Help us plan upcoming ELA lesson plans with this 2-question survey .

Students have plenty of opportunity to shine this year by participating in our various programs. Summer Camps and Programs and Family Weekend Retreat are both open for registration, and Discovery Retreats will continue to be held throughout the year.
New Lesson Plans
We have two new lesson plans for your students! In January we published "The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King" in honor of Martin Luther King day, and recently we added another plan for Black History Month, "Celebrating Black History:
The Children's Crusade." Both lesson plans include objectives, TEKS, ASL signed videos, and lots of fun, educational activities. Help us decide on future lesson plans by taking this 2-question survey.

We are excited that our opening keynote presenter this year is Nida Din.

"My name is Nida Din and I am a culturally Deaf, Pakistani-American woman. My educational background includes a BA in Consulting and Change Management at the University of Texas (Hook ‘em Horns!) in Austin, Texas. Upon graduation, I've worked for six years and my work experience included working in a domestic violence/sexual assault agency, health information technology corporation, and video relay services corporation. Eventually, I have decided to go to law school and I've recently graduated. I am now studying to take my bar exam in February to get my law license. I aim to become an immigration attorney. I look forward to meeting you at FWR! "
