MEET YOUR PTA

JENNIFER SMITH - Vice President
Hello! My name is Jennifer Smith and I currently serve as our PTA Vice President. Being in the midst of my seventh year on our Board, I can honestly say I have enjoyed all my experiences and the wonderful relationships which have resulted. Knowing our PTA efforts make a difference in our families', kids', and teachers' school experiences makes me happy!
I grew up in East Tennessee, receiving a B.S. in Zoology from U.T., followed by moving to Middle Tennessee to complete my Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt. I enjoyed working as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner prior to staying home with my boys. I have really loved both jobs!
My husband Steve, and I are parents to DS third-graders, Andrew and Matthew, and our DS graduate, Isaac. We love spending time traveling, outdoors, biking, camping, kayaking, Cub/Boy Scouts, movie nights at home, board games, reading, and good food!

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a fantastic Winter Break. It is hard to believe we are half way through this year. As you can see from the calendar, there are plenty more activities and events to keep us busy. Thank you to each and every family for all the ways you have shown your support for Discovery School so far this year. While we continue to focus on serving students passionately for the duration of the year, the PTA will also be spending the next two months putting together a list of nominees for the 2017-2018 Executive Board and looking for parents who are interested in serving as committee chairs for next school year. If you are interested in more information, please contact our volunteer chair, Amanda Moore at dsptavolunteers@gmail.com. |

GUIDENCE NEWS
|
Accidents happen, and our student population is not immune to them; so our clothes closet is running low on clothing items that could really help a student get through a tough day! If you have various kids' size stretchy leggings, jogging pants, sweat pants, warm-up pants..anything with elastic waists that would fit a variety of sizes/shapes, please consider donating them to our clothes closet. On the wish list packs of NEW underwear for boys and girls. THANK YOU for helping our school community in this way!
The spring semester SignUp is ready for Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers! It is open to Dads, Grandpa's, Uncles, and any other adult father-figure in a student's life. Here are the steps to getting started:
