Discovery School
Cross Country Try-Outs
Tuesday, May 23rd from 3:45 - 4:30
To be accepted on the team, students must be rising 3rd-5th graders able to run one mile in under 9 minutes. Results will be emailed, and our first Team Meeting will be Wednesday, May 24th after school in the gym. A parent/guardian must attend.
Students will be expected to condition (one mile, twice a week) starting in June and turn in a log of their miles each time the team meets. The team will meet once a week on Wednesday mornings starting July 12th, and on Wednesday afternoons starting August 8th through September, and October.
We will be registering as a team under Nashville Youth Athletics which consists of 5 developmental meets in September and October, and one City Qualifier. The Regional (or State) Qualifier for our region is separate. The State Championship is in Knoxville and is also separate from the NYA developmental season.
Regardless of team performance, students have the opportunity to place and receive awards in all qualifiers independently from the team. DS will present awards to Fastest Boy/Girl, Most Improved Boy/Girl, and Coach's Choice Most Valuable Team Member.
Coaches:
Mrs. Baltimore. Mrs. McCarthy, Mrs. Young
Hope to see YOU at try-outs!
